Dubs V Mayo

Replying To AfricanGael:  "It was a good goal but it came from a long ball into O'Shea and the point still remains, the running game has not returned enough goals against Dublin and that's why they need to mix it up a little because they will need at least two goals to have any faint hope at all."
Ahh that wasn't really route 1, 'hoof it up the field" football. It was a medium length diagonal pass into O Shea after they had moved it through the backs for a spell. I thought it was a great goal.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Again as I said earlier I just can't see Mayo winning. Would be great if they did. But knowing mayos luck be typical the year they beat dubs they'd lose to Kerry in the final."
Kerry are good but are way overrated imo.
Winner tomorrow takes the All Ireland.

Replying To tommy132:  "Mayos plan seems to run as hard and for as long as possible, this plan works against majority of team but not against Dublin. You could see in the final last year, Mayo came out flying and Dublin knew they would, so Dublin have the fitness to match Mayo and Dublin have the quality to keep possession and let Mayo tire themselves out. Dublin know well Mayo cant sustain that running game for the whole game but James Horan seems to think they can.

It was interesting in the Galway game that he kept the 2 McLoughlin's on the bench until half time, its hard to know if they were not fully fit because they were rumored to be injured or coming back from injury, or was it tactical and to bring on fast hard running players for the second half.

so they need to get the mix right of a running game and to break it up with maybe a 5minute period where they go direct and have O Shea inside but also have Mayo forwards around him and not like other years where high ball was sent in and all that was in there was O Shea with McMahon under him, O Sullivan infront of him and Cooper coming in as well and no sign of another Mayo forward.

Saying all this though is a bit wasted after Oisin Mullins injury, he is a massive loss to our defense and attack, now I don't think he played well defensively in the final last year but id be pretty confident he would have learned alot from that and be better able for O Callaghan this year."
Id drop Conroy and use him for the final 20 minutes when the games (hopefully) in the melting point.

Starts championship games way to slow for me in Croke park , and tends to disappear for large spells.

Ryan O Donoughe seems far more comfortable in this environment despite both being of similar age.
Tommy needs to add more aggression and malice to his game, hes just too nice atm.

Ah no it wasn't a hit and hope but it was kicked in from midfield to O'Shea, while their running game goes through the hands. It was a great goal for sure.

Replying To KingdomBoy1:  "So you agree with myself and Star so that dublin will win by 5/6 points with dublin choking the life out of the game.

And I only drink Harp and Bulmers, the real posh stuff no bitterness here just accepting nobody can beat dublin.

Mayo did their best in the past and I'm sure they'll do their best tomorrow but unfortunately between injuries and retirements they'll come up short again, and due to the big mess in the other semifinal between Tyrone and Kerry neither of those 2 teams will have proper preparation to even challenge the dubs."
Harp and Bulmers, the real "posh stuff".... :-D :-D

And just like that, the game is upon us. I genuinely think this match is up for grabs. If Mayo can do it I'd love to see them go on and win it at last, but I fear that Kerry will be too strong for them.

Mayo have no forward to start over Conroy though.

Same as, this one really touch and go.

Teams up till now showing us to much respect, no fear of that tomorrow.

Same as, if Mayo have our bullet tomorrow I'd like to see them go the whole way, shake the hand of the worthy warrior! ;)

Yup, mix them together and you get a snake bite but both are lush on their own as well.

Flash backs to yesteryears all Ireland finals is a non-runner, whether they could have or should have made changes to the starting 15 or the finishing 15 in previous games is irrelevant, whether S O'S has to step up to the mark and lead by example is also irrelevant, if there is a question mark over the Mayo goal keeper surely there is the same question mark over the Dublin keeper, another thing of note, Dessie Farrell is Jim Gavin's replacement Dec. 2019, James Horan was reappointed Oct. 2018 little between them but for 2020 all Ireland title, the Dub's have lost the services of 8 / 10 key players but so too have Mayo, according to all and media the Dub's haven't been tested just yet but then neither have Mayo, no better people than the media to talk up a team when it's down or talk down a team when it's up. The one thing that's clearly in Dublin's favor is they have 6 consecutive all Ireland titles to their credit, what's in Mayo's favor is the fact that they are looking for their first since 1951 who is the hungrier and all that.?

Other than that we'll have to wait till after the game to see if there is any other real difference between the two side that have gone unnoticed.

They say that the very best of managers can cover every eventuality in the dressing room but when the game starts class room stuff and notes goes out the window and instinct takes over for a variety of reasons, - lady luck has a part to play as well.

A few of the Mayo lads were spotted in Ballindine yesterday heading for the motorway in Tuam ;) all driving themselves up. No team buses allowed yet.

Best of luck to our teams today. Both up against it.
It's a long time since I've felt that the majority of Mayo fans are going in hope more than confidence to play Dublin.

My head can't find any way we win this game with the injuries we have. Dublin are still very strong and have too many aces. However sport sometimes throws up surprises. As a GAA fan you live for days like this. Here's hoping. Up Mayo!

I met a good few of the women's team in Termonbarry yesterday afternoon.

Didn't see a coach now that i think of it.

Once it passes the 60 minute mark it's about who flicks the switch and closes the game better. Dublin are masters at it. We need to show how much we've learned from those tight games we didn't close out, whether we're in front or behind, and forget the fear and do what needs to be done. It's a tough task today but I think we'll win it cos some of these new lads are fearless. We're thinking here too much about reasons we can't win but Horan has put the belief into this squad. Time to give Dublin something to think about today. That's why we're the lazy keyboard warriors and they're the intercounty footballers. May the best team win.

Maigh Eo Abú!

Brendan Harrison on the bench but doubt hes up to the standard yet, only play bits of club games..
No one there to mark Con O Callaghan is a massive problem.
If i was to bet on Mayo winning or Dublin winning by big margin, i would be putting my money on Dublin..
