Replying To dickie10:  "I have been thinking of a new championship structure that might tick all boxes.

Mid January: start league
Mid March League finals, with the caveat of 1st place in league wins the division 2,3 and 4 even on goal difference, a play off then for promotion between teams 2nd and 3rd. This could be played in croke park, or neutral venue to help boost provincial towns economy. I think this has great potential imagine Division 2 and 3 playoff double header in mullingar with Meath v Roscommon in div 2 and Laois v Cavan div 3 for example i think you could possibly get 10k to that, be a brillaint atmosphere, or put in tullamore ,portlaoisse, thurles, breffni etc. The Division 1 final could be between 1st and 2nd if you wanted a final but i think team that comes first should just get cup on final day tbh. The playoffs could happen on a "playoff weekend" or paddys day .

In april you could still leave for clubs, in May play off provincial championships starting May bank holiday and finish last weekend in May, no need for more than 4 weeks.
Possibly maybe june bank holiday have a provinical finals weekend. Now how we keep the provinces alive is that, the finalists are seeded for the Sam Maguire chamionship.
From first week in june 8 groups of 4 seeded from provicial championship take place, top 2 into last 16 of sam maguire , bottom 2 into last 16 of Tailteann Cup. play off every second week through july to final in august. Try Friday night games among neighbours etc,"
Split season is coming in so more April club month which was a stupid idea right from the start. Seeding a championship based on provincials is a non starter. Down, Waterford, and Sligo are not at the same level.

I'd say tickets will soon be sent back as they won't be able to find 2/300 fools to go to games"
You did well to stick watching those games til at least half time. I wonder what the Sky viewing figures would be....would the numbers watching have stayed in 4 figures for the entire broadcast? Traditionally the pride of playing for your county was a huge thing for good young footballers but J wonder in this day and age if a good young footballer would think of about 100 other things they would prefer doing than training hard for months to endure the inevitable hammering when representing their county.

None. Warwickshire would paste them.

Meath and Kildare. Sorry, I mean Meath or Kildare, not the pick of the two of them together.

The bookies are the ones with the best knowledge. I thought Clare would put up a better show myself but the bookies did nt.

Here we go again. Another game over at half time. Down unlucky with the bad decision for the goal which should have been a free out but they are not at the races here.

Kerry are the only team that might beat Dublin this year (I'd give Kerry a one in 5 chance of coming through a Dublin tie if they end up playing this year)

From the Live Tracker itself..!

Leinster SFC: Offaly 0-9 Louth 0-11

Ruairi McNamee and Farrell close it back to a one-point game. Mulroy replies with a converted free. This is the match of the weekend so far by quite some distance!

I wonder why that is Ted?

We all know there are maybe 6 teams who have any chance of winning all ireland football title, but the hidings yesterday and today mean the Gaa need to get something right very quickly or no interest will be retained at all..

A change is coming but neither proposal is good. Provincial groups of 8 which involves moving 3 Leinster counties into Munster to be hammered by Kerry. Or a League proposal where Div 4 sides can qualify for an All-Ireland QF ahead of higher placed counties.

Michael Duignan, Chair of Offaly County Board, is on RTE for a munster hurling match when his own senior football team are playing their first round. Says it all.

A hurling man through and through. Why on earth would he show up to support his county in football.

May be Duignan has a contact with RTE instead of not caring about his County?

Delighted we lost today, we have kept our place in Div 3 and playing Dublin would be of no use to us.
