Galway V Dublin

(Oldest Posts First)

Well a very narrow loss for Galway. They should have won imho. Anyway plenty of positives, some great catches, some great points. Damien Comer missed match due to injury. Dubs played ok , and are not unbeatable this year.

Galway did play well enough

I'm happy enough with the win and Dublins performance

Another away win and just ticking along nicely, always good to only play half decent but still come away with a win and 22pts on the board away from home.

Onwards and Upwards

Ní amháin gur féidir le Con O 'Callaghan peil Ghaelach a chiceáil níos fearr ná aon duine eile in Éirinn inniu, ach tá sé in ann do theanga dhúchais a labhairt freisin. Tá an-mheas agam ar Con cheana féin níos airde fós!

Nought to be learned from that game really. Galway have probably consigned the Kerry game no show to the bin and can be more positive going fwd. Wonder did his assistants chat the ref at half time about his inconsistency in the first half, much more even handed application of rules in the second period.

Happy with our improvement. Made some sloppy mistakes but I think that was due to the Dubs excellence.

Cooke is getting closer to full fitness. Very good first half and some good moments in second but looked gassed.

Heaney missed a sitter in first half and we probably needed that to rattle them. As it was mostly us playing catch up the Dubs just kept doing their thing. When the net gets rattled a few times teams can lose composure and that's what we needed to happen.

Tá roinnt gaeilgeóirí ar fhoireann Bhaile Átha Cliath. Is iontach na peileadóirí iad leithid O'Callaghan agus Kilkenny. Bhí an-deacrachtaí againn Costello a lámhseáil inniu chomh maith.
An improved performance from us for sure, but it felt like Dublin could move up a level when needed. I hope the injury to Glynn isn't too serious. It looked like he could have a fracture or a break. It'd be a huge shame if he was to miss the championship.

Thought the ref ruined the game, bizarre stuff, again!

Nice showing throughout the league, largely blooding the young lads, Mullen, POCB, McMahon etc.

Looking forward to playing Donegal, hope we stick with youth and keep giving opportunities to panelist's.

Galway looked to have a defensive system in place, Cook was excellent, Shane Walsh was mega - but many frees that fell his way were soft in my opinion, still what a wizard.

I did nt see game bar last ten minutes so can't comment much. Glad Galway put up a good show and saw a great point from Shane Walsh. When he runs he s so hard to stop. He should do more of it. Saw Cons goals too. A fab player. Comer injured again. Hope he does nt become the new James Ó Donoghue. JOD so talented but cursed with injuries. Last year in the league he comes back again scores 3 points in first half against Dublin gets injured again and we have nt seen him since. Comer seems to be in the same boat ré injuries
Hope to see him back soon.

Look at the first Dublin goal again scored by con ó Callaghan the Galway goalkeeper absolutely bottled it. He should have caught the ball when it spun up in front of him but for some bizarre reason he palmed it out when it was far simpler to catch the ball. If it was an u14 goalkeeper at club level he would have to be taken off. It looked absolutely awful to be honest.

Ref was wise to Dublins trick of a quick foul on the ball carrier knocking him off balance just enough to allow the defender or a second player a strong tackle and dispossess the ball carrier.

That is one way of looking at it. First half ref was very strict and fussy regarding Dublin's tackling but turned a blind eye when Galway's tackles were over zealous. Second half he was much more even handed but still way too fussy.
