Painful display which I'm putting entirely on management galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 15/05/2021 17:03:41 2341961 Link 0 |
People forget we werent even competitive in connacht before Kevin came on board. 8 years to get a connacht title. I don't think it's a big marker laid down by Kerry . I absolutely do think they mean business but I'm sure they were hoping for a tough test today. It looked like div 1 vs div 3. Nice to get a win but theyll take nothing from that game galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 15/05/2021 17:25:09 2341972 Link 0 |
Dublin don't give a crap about the league, and especially right now, it's pure practice/training. Glorified challenge matches if you will. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8729 - 15/05/2021 17:30:07 2341974 Link 1 |
Agree with both points. Despite what a couple of their posters on here think. I have a very soft spot for Galway football, that was terrible and unbecoming of the great Galway teams of the past. There is some bloody good players in that Galway team who are not playing to their potential, surely the question has to be asked why ?

It was painful to watch. Now while I would have liked Galway to win I thought Kerry would prevail by a point or two. Joyce needs to sort that display out quickly.

Haha if only. We will be absolutely slaughtered tomorrow too mate. Be lucky if we are within 20 points of Dublin looking at teams named. Both be very wounded next weekend

Groan...those training sessions during lockdown didn't do a tap for us. lilylanger (Kildare) - Posts: 758 - 15/05/2021 17:56:27 2341996 Link 0 |
I'd wish you good luck but I'd be lying because I want ye to get slaughtered. If he put I'm even a half decent showing you'll be in much better shape than us. I can't remember ever losing by that much in my lifetime...and I'm old and have witnessed a fair few trashings

Big statement from Kerry. Galway, heads up. Plenty of games ahead. Thats a big loss, especially for your first day out. Unimaginable hammerings like that (on the scoreboard) are becoming very common in the last few years and one has to wonder has it to do with the immense positivity (on the day) of how teams set up vs. how poorly other teams set up (on the day). The game has become so technical in its detail that when one side gets an ascendancy the floodgates seem to open now like Young_gael (Meath) - Posts: 597 - 15/05/2021 18:38:32 2342018 Link 3 |
No point lying. Roscommon are a good team and the only way galway have a chance is if ye are seriously wounded too. I actually think ye will give a decent account of yourselves. Even a good finish will give ye a psychological advantage My fear is galway reverting to the Galway fancy Dan's era....I despised it galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 15/05/2021 18:40:58 2342020 Link 0 |
Open to correction hear but it's our biggest defeat in 121 years . It's more than a bad day at the office If we win next weekend it'll help heal the wounds but today won't be forgotten unfortunately. Our manager apparently doesn't realise that kerry arent just going to hand us the ball to show off our fancy football skills. Neither are roscommon or Dublin. You need aggression and hard tackling. Severely lacking today galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 15/05/2021 18:56:42 2342037 Link 0 |
Well Galway players and many supporters were unhappy with Kevin Walsh as he was not playing enough attacking football seemingly. Well ye got the dream manager of Joyce and he has been a complete failure so far- last year against Mayo was painful to watch. Sometimes people forget that the managers they have are probably better than the ones they crave- we see it time and again where some teams want managers gone only to find out the replacement is not all they were cracked up to be. Walsh got results. Yes he did not win an All Ireland but face facts- ye haven't the players to win one anyway. Ye are not even the best team in Connacht- ye come in at number two!! the creeler (Cavan) - Posts: 512 - 15/05/2021 19:03:37 2342047 Link 2 |

Didn't see any games but looking the Kerry scoreline really stands out. With lockdown and interruptions to team preparations I wasn't expecting to see a team put up that high of a score today in division 1. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 1413 - 15/05/2021 19:24:33 2342060 Link 0 |
I was a Kevin walsh fan of course I am from his neighbouring club and I was always accused of parochial bias. His critics always conveniently forgot that his right hand man was a corofin man. Both of them got Galway back to being a competitive team and have since gone into business together. So despite what many galway fans implied Kevin clearly valued silkes opinion and all the suggestions otherwise are an insult to both men

I'll think you'll find the all conquering club in Galway is my own Maigh Cuilinn :)

Galway were like the cats that got the sour cream today and it just wasn't good enough for them to drink. They were completely outclassed in all the line divisions and looked a pale comparison of the teams of yore. Is all the Galway money going to hurling one must ask at this junction box. the_creeler (Leitrim) - Posts: 119 - 15/05/2021 20:31:26 2342096 Link 0 |
