Tosmith here

Watching the 1994 All Ireland again on T na G Gold today Easter Sunday I cannot understand how Dublin lost this game...It must rank as one one of the most embarrassing defeats / events in the Gaa calender ,, Some Down could not help but feel that Dunlin got some handy frees

Now tom,
sit back and wait for the bite! Be patient though. Not sure if that your best attempt but no doubt some of the newer posters will take the bait lol.

Yes either that or Cavan's all-Ireland semi defeat last year, what on earth you on about man? As far as losing the game is concerned, I put a lot of it down to wasting Paul Curran on Mickey Linden. And missing another penalty of course :D

Are you drunk Tom?
That was a very good Dublin team and they eventually got the trophy a year later.

During the first lockdown I watched the classic Down v Derry match from 1994. A great way to spend an hour or so.

I blame not having a M Linden style footballer

An exceptional talent that caused the Dublin management to have a brain fart

For all of that Dublin teams strengths.. it wasn't a very potent forward line.

Jayo's impact the following year showed the pace and direct play that was missing

Great game enjoyed watching it again today. That Down team were a class act and possibly could have won more had they not played in such a competitive era. Grey Blaney was a train at centre forward he got through an unbelievable amount of work and was probably Downs most important player

Was it not Paul Clarke who was tasked with marking Linden?

And that penalty was saved :) ( by our club goalie)

Ah don't worry, they've won plenty more to make up for it since .

Ha ha good man, a save is a miss :D Maybe it turned out that way but the original plan was for Curran, and I don't think it sat well. Not a man marker anyway.

You were right, Curran was on him from the start but they switched Clarke to him second half.

Curran was immense in '95 from wing back.
