Sure who doesn't love to see Neymar, Ronaldo etc diving all over the place and see fully grown men go down as if they are shot and live lives alien to the ordinary person. Could sit through 120 minutes plus (including extra time) and see no score or maybe even a shot on target. It is a beautiful game alright for those who know no better maybe!!!!

You were better off if you stayed in hiding, a border safe house was it ? :-)

I was a far better soccer player than I was a hurler. I could never quite get the hang of hurling tbh. Bloody difficult sport to get the hang of, avd you gotta be tough to play it too.
A great game we should be proud of.

But when you miss in gaelic even a hard free your supporters don't clap you for effort. I mean anyone can take a free and miss it but I would nt applaud it. Now soccer has a great theatre skillet like diving and rolling around the ground like 5 year old.

Hard to tell the English posters on here that though- nice to see them interested in our national game anyway I suppose. They don't like answering questions though I noticed. They get very defensive all of a sudden when anyone questions them.

I think it's clear from your "14 yard free in soccer" remark that you don't know anything about the beautiful game at all.

I don't know what it's like to watch someone being shot, but i'll take your word for it. Yes, that's what makes it such a great game and the most popular in the world, followed and loved by billions.

Oh I know a fair bit about the beautiful games in the gaa and I also know a bit about soccer(the game the English call beautiful). I played soccer also and yes there can be frees 14 yards out to my knowledge or anywhere for that matter once its outside the penalty area (or am I wrong?) I gave attended games in England and internationals ut compared to gaa I find it very boring. A níl all draw does nt do it for me but each to their own.

Cricket is probably the world's second most popular sport, or maybe rugby union, tennis, chess even.
I assume you're big into them too?
I suppose the latest marvel effort starring Hollywood's latest heartthrob is the greatest movie on earth yeah? Seeing as it's watched by so many.

Im actually a fan of soccer but more for its politics, transfer speculation, gaffer sackings, agents, the off field debate, which player is tweeting what, who gets on with the manager avd who doesn't, which chairman might or might not be taking over which club, , etc. etc. That kind of thing. Unlike gaelic games, what happens in the soccer pitch is often secondary, and a bit tedious. Soccer is not what it was by a long stretch. Very commercial, the players are more like celebrities than sportsmen, many of them don't seem to care that much whether they win or lose. You have this farcical system in most leagues where finishing 4th is bigger than winning a trophy.

Also you seem to constantly slate the dubs for supposedly buying their success but soccer teams practically do that stuff as a matter of protocol at this stage.

Supposedly ? Are you having a laugh, there's absolutely nothing "supposedly" about it.

Yes and mainly spread all over the world by soldiers and missionaries from the 4 big
imperial powers of England, Spain, Germany and France. Just because something is more popular doesnt mean its better for everyone. I would watch soccer but would far rather watch hurling.

That's entirely your own choice, whatever rocks your boat. Is there any aspect of hurling you don't like or would change ?

Talking about houses in order. It's time RTÉ got their house in order, taking Joe Brolly of air but let DUP snigger and laugh at all things Irish. Shame on them for sucking up to DUP and their out of date mandates.

How they have 0-0 draws in soccer with a goal that's 24ft wide. Missing penalties, not hitting the target 20 yards outand they call themselves professionals . If the so-called pros kicked an O'Neills ball they would have to be carried off. Then you have the roar of ohhhhhhhhh when ball goes wide by yards. Got to laugh.

Wouldn't it be great if they could carry the ball around in their hands and palm it into the net, Ronaldo would score 20+ goals a game. That's why he's on 50 million a year, if he was in Ireland he'd have a courtesy ford fiesta and 3 cows.
