Yep I enjoyed Quinns many moons ago but have nt been in it now in 25 years as it started getting dirty and just did nt like it anymore. Was some good pubs alright in Dorset St /Drumcondra but tbh some of the pubs I would enjoy on match days I would nt darken their doors on other occasions bar two or 3.

Back in college is early 2000s it was Big Tree on a Wednesday and Quinns on a Thursday, Fat frogs for a fiver if I remember correctly. The Fat Frogs wouldn't sit right with the belly full of dutch gold you already had in ya!!!! Good times..... Adler (Monaghan) - Posts: 754 - 23/02/2021 19:24:48 2332563 Link 0 |

Were you in Pats? I was there 98 to 01. Great nights in Cat and Cage and Quinns.

Yiz all must be a bunch of whippersnappers! It's only Quinn's since mid 80's! To me it'll always be McGoverns! However! Is there anyone out there that remembers it as Cooke's? Before my time! Onion_Sack (Dublin) - Posts: 203 - 23/02/2021 21:24:48 2332577 Link 0 |
Not the bleedin Cat and Cage!! Its amazing being from the area the no go pubs. It is obviously a lot to do with St Pat's close by, I am sure every University city has pubs the locals would dress up in disguise if they had to go into. And that is not to say there are no dire Dub only pubs! But in Drumcondra a really nice breakfast is to be had in Kennedy's and lovely pints and atmosphere at night. However, I can only imagine the reaction if a load of students piled in though!

Kennedys and Fagins are the only 2 pubs within 0.5 miles of Croke Park that I would have any interest in drinking in. StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 1732 - 24/02/2021 16:43:41 2332649 Link 0 |
Quinn's was the go to place years ago before, during and after matches for a bit of crack... many a long session took place there but in more recent times (I'm talking the last 10 years) it has turned into an awful dirty kip... Location wise it will be missed and when things open up again it will mean having to get to McGraths an hour or two earlier..!!!! Definitely have to have a few pints. The only problem these days is I'd probably be on the floor after 3 pints. Not use to it at all now and age is catching up to me.
