Great to see a nomination for Iain Corbett. Limerick's first nomination since John Galvin in 2010.

I'd imagine you're right Breffni, i just don't see the point of doing it that way though. If they know Mccarthy and Galligan will be in the team regardless then surely they should pick them in the position they'll win their awards in. It's almost akin to picking Cluxton as a forward and slotting him in goals....

You mean since John Galvin was robbed in 2010.
Biggest injustice since the All-Stars began in the early 1970's
Well done to Corbett, well deserved.

What did Clifford do this year to get a nomination. Quinliven outstanding in Munster final doesn't get nominated?

Yeah i think whoever is the Dublin will always get the nod but to be no 11 is the far more critical and important position to display skills, it was Ciaran last year and Con this like 18.. Con was unlucky last year as was Ciaran, not to win it but a tough gig up against Cluxton. Thats before you mention Fenton on any given year it would be hard to pick a difference between the four and all worthy winners.

I expect Cillian O' Connor to win it to be honest given the process, the Dublin vote will be split between the two lads.

I'd say they have the team picked already, that's why they took Galligan out of midfield. MaCarthy and Fenton will get those spots.

In the forwards you have Sweeney, O'Callaghan, Kilkenny, Galligan nailed on, with between O'Connor, Scully, Rock for the last 2.

Goalie is a certainty.

Faulkners lack of pace showed him up a few times against the dub's so that might stand against him. I thought Smith had a solid year at wing back, thought Jason McLoughlin was unlucky not to get a nomination. The defenders might be Byrne, Fitzsimons, McLoughlin, Durcan, McDaid with Faulkner, Fahy, Small looking for the last spot.

Well the all stars are supposed to go in performances in the league and championship and he did have a fantastic league. However recently they seemed to be based mainly on championship especially semi s and finals and in that regard he definately did not deserve a nomination before Quilivan. Quilivan us paying for his poor semi performance.

I would agree with Username when you have 2 nominated for p.oy from the same county the vote can get split so its harder to win but for me Kilkenny best player all year.

Team not picked but Galligan will be the only forward that you named who will not get an All Star in the forwards, he will get it at midfield and James McCarthy will get his in defence.

don't they usually pick them in positions that they group them in. That's why galligan and mcKiernan were swapped cause McKiernan won't win one but galligan will.

Think every county has a similar grievance or claim of injustice. Not a slight at Galvin or Corbett in any way

Couple of examples for Meath
2007 Meath got to an all ireland semi final, Received six nominations and won one all star. Think that was a fair call tbh.

2009 Meath got to an all ireland semi final, received one nomination and no all star. Funnily enough Wicklow that year had 2 nominations...

2010 Meath won Leinster (when it still meant something), Graham Reilly was the top scorer from play across the entire championship, 3 nominations and again no all star

The whole all star system no longer makes any sense, is a total farce and has proven as such when Colm Cavanagh was selected as an All Star full back and Brian Howard as an All Star centre half back despite neither player being selected there by their teams.

Cavan folks, could i ask a question. Are you disappointed that Luke Fortune wasn't nominated? I thought he was one of the most consistent players ye had all year and better than Smith, but Smith did get a nomination?

You could make a case for 3 or 4 others to get a nomination. Personally Jason McLaughlin and Oisin Kiernan slightly more unlucky to not get a nomination than Fortune. We can't complain about 7 nominations though.

Also for me, Faulkner is our best and most consistent player and as good as the Galligans are, I think it would be a real injustice if Faulkner doesn't get one

I don't like arguing about different players, but how can people say galligan will get an all star as a forward before scully,Rock or o Connor..that's why I mentioned on the hogan stand team of year discussion that for me he isn't near being in the best 6 forwards..I think even some players in last few years have been embarrassed by all stars..if I'm right wasn't there controversy with Brian whelehan on 2 separate occasions..

Small is guaranteed.

I'd say Oisin Mullin is too.

There was indeed controversy with Brian Whelehan. He should have got an all star one year and did nt and in 1998 he got an all star full forward in the wrong
Brian had a cold the morning of all ireland 98 v Kilkenny and playing half back as usual but with no energy. Offaly management put him in full forward early 2nd half and he scored 1-5 turning the game. Albeit a marvellous performance and I'm a huge fan of Brian I don't think one should get an all star for 25 mins of hurling.
