I found on-line the bishop stopped throwing in the ball from 1965 onwards but it didn't give a reason why. I mentioned it today at work some of the lads were saying teams were complaining that the bishops were too slow getting off the field and getting in the way at the start of the match. In some cases there is a link between body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria and it is not a big step mentally to go from " I hate my body" to "I hate my sex". it is not insignificant that anorexia is estimated to be 4 times higher in the transgender community than in the general population. Childhood and adolescence are times of flux. When people reach the age of 18 let them begin the journey then to make a gender switch if they want but before that age it should be out of bounds. But there are some activists, maybe the majority, who see it as a political struggle and a matter of individual rights no matter what the age. Kids who are questioning their gender obviously are vulnerable people. They need to be listened to but also protected from those with a wider political agenda. A well known doctor who works in this area spoke recently about the "coaching" that some teenagers are been given when attending for assessment on their gender issues. Some are being given information on how to answer the questions to ensure that they will be prioritised for transgender surgery.This is immoral and another form of child abuse. The ones coaching them wont be around in 15 or 20 years time if some of these kids in maturity come to realise they made an awful mistake. I've come across a fascinating new book for schoolchildren 7-11. It's called "Brilliant! 25 Catholic Scientists,Mathematicians and Supersmart People" by David and Jaclyn Warren. Illustrations and biographies of Pasteur,Mendel,Copernicus,Braille ,Hildegard etc. It could help to know that faith and science are entirely compatible. Men's and women's sports competitions. The men and women's categories on the census etc. It differs with context and country but for the most part it's a binary question that's part of the organisation of society. Sex is a person's biology. It's more of a spectrum. Most people are born quite unambiguously fitting into the traditional notion of what a man or a woman is but not everybody is. There's people born with both penises and ovaries for instance that make a clear rigorous biological definition of what a man or a woman is impossible. "Men" usually have an X and Y chromosome but I believe sometimes people with 2 XX chromosomes have exhibited penises also. Geez folks its getting very heavy biologically and scientifically here...I'm only used to men and women, someone told me recently that there can be up to 13....not sure what you call them but male and female are just two!Am heading off to practice Petanque,its so much simpler! How would you categorise a person with a vagina but no ovaries. They can't conceive but they hardly fit in as men. This is the thing there's no rigorous definition of what exactly a man or a woman is. Most of us it's clear cut but for plenty of people it is not. Most people don't need wheelchairs but we as a society rightly look to make the world accessible for wheelchair users.
