Replying To stillaroyal:  "Very good point but is Sean currently our Director of Football?

You mention that he was recently appointed but that seems to have passed me by. I know that he was appointed a few years ago but I had assumed the term had finished.

But if you are correct that Sean is the Meath Director of Football then it is madness that he gets involved in the Down under 20's setup."
Thats the question we all asking.why he moving was he shoved or not giving respect in role.??

Boylan stepped down as Director of Football about 10 years ago when the Banty was going on and he was briefly lined up with a return to the job.

I wonder, given the current lockdown, how the new management team will pick a squad? Sure they will know the lads who played last year - and Joe Treanor's minors will also be known - but I am sure there are others out there that have come on since minor and would be in the running for a spot

Will be more that likely the last 2 minor squads from the Leinster winning championship side and the side after that. There will probably be around 50 players there and then I'd say they will pick players who played adult championship football last year also maybe around 10ish . Any players out there that stood out ? that are new to County

You'd have to feel for Bernard and his management team. All that effort and work to get a brilliant setup in place and will there even be an U20 championship this year? At least there is something to take from the fact that he will be in place for a couple of years. It must be very frustrating for everyone involved.

some positive news being reported that Jimmy Corcoran Drumbaragh & ex underage Ireland International Keeper joining up with the Meath Squad, he would also be available for the U20s , good competition for the Goalie spot for Eoin Griffin the Clann na nGael number 1!

Wouldn't necessarily be as a goalie he would be joining up with the squads. Hes an extremely talented forward so wouldnt be surprised if it was an outfield players he was joining as.

Either way, great to see us getting a player back that we lost over the last few years

Sean Brennan from Dunderry played over Eoin Griffin at minor and 20's last year and I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case again if this gets played. Also Dean Pluck who was impressive for the Bracks and was minor keeper in 2019. So with that amount of keepers Corcoran probably will go outfield but might be looked as the senior goalkeeper. We could really do with one of these keepers panning out and being a top quality senior inter county keeper. It would make us far more competitive

Bernard Flynn appeared in a very good Laochra Gael last night. Gave some service to Meath and club football over the years and has paid a very heavy price health wise. This man has seen it all, highs and lows on and off the pitch, so would have little concern about any lack of football management. Life experience will stand him in good stead if/when he gets his chance with U20.

Pretty sure Costello isn't allowed play seeing as he played senior last year. Hickey too.

That isn't a rule unless it's a new one. Shane Walsh played under 20 against Wexford last year and got injured despite playing in the super 8's against Kerry the year before. Bernard Flynn has said in a few places that he took the job on condition that the lads on the seniors get to play with him and Andy agreed to it. So if it takes places Costello and Hickey will be playing bar injury
