The likes of Kerry, who are a good team but will always struggle in Munster Senior would do very well against all the Munster intermediate county teams.
Same for Offaly, Carlow, Meath and Westmeath. They could play against the Kilkenny, Galway and Wexford intermediate county teams.
Throw Antrim, Down and Derry in there too.
Intermediate All Ireland could be very competitive."
I've always thought this as well.
Kerry in Munster. Carlow, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare in Leinster. Mayo and Roscommon would be competitive in Connnacht. With Antrim second team Down, Derry and Armagh in Ulster. Would make for a good championship for all. The stronger counties would benefit from giving younger players more game time while the others would benefit from playing more games at a bit of a step up.
Problem is county boards won't support it as many have no interest in promoting the game and are happy with not having any extra games
The Ulster Senior Hurling Championship as a standalone competition is dead, dead I tell you.

It had been used as a warm up for the Ring and Rackard cups before the whole fiasco in 2006 with New York. It also at one stage had all the counties plus London
