Hurling: Munster & Leinster Finals

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Limerick and Waterford should be an interesting match. I really expected Cork to be here. Waterford can be so stubborn and you almost forget the very talented players they are loaded with. I expect a Limerick win in a close one. Galway and Kilkenny should be a typical physical affair. KK are so dangerous especially right before and after halftime when you're trying to settle in. Close match with Galway winning by one or two.

You would have to say after the weekend's matches that Galway and Limerick were easily the most impressive of what we saw, although I still think that this Limerick team are well ahead of everybody else. Cork were poor yet again while Tipperary flattered to deceive, although I still think that there is a kick in this Tipperary team, far too much talent to just fade away. Waterford were probably the surprise of the weekend although nothing would surprise you when it comes to Waterford, while Wexford were probably the biggest disappointment of the weekend. Kilkenny will be itching to get their hands back on the Leinster title not having won it since 2016, and while it may not mean as much to Galway, Shane O'Neill will certainly fancy some silverware in his first season in charge. In Munster it's impossible to look beyond Limerick, but no better side than Waterford to turn everything on it's head!!

Ya both are definitely favourites. KK are very inconsistent these days and Waterford are much better but not at Limericks level yet

Galway better be wide awake against KK. They are still capable of beating anyone anytime.

I agree. Very few teams can be written off in hurling but Galway are definitely looking good

Very impressed with Galway (my expectations were not high). How good were Galway how poor were Wexford? Daithi Burke will improve Galway no end when he gets back. One swallow never made a Christmas!

Didn't see KK game but read the reports. Very hard to know what to make out of it. A bad Kilkenny are still capable of sneaking an All Ireland so no one in Galway will be taking them for granted. and for the record, they are not bad (just not in the same league of their great team of the naughties).

Limerick were very good also but I expected them to be.

Waterford were surprisingly good but Cork were very bad. Will Gleeson get a suspension for the dig he threw? He's a good hurler but he's becoming a liability. There doesn't seem to be a game he doesn't commit a red card offence, even if he gets away with some of them.

It wouldn't surprise me if we had a few results that made no sense i.e. Teams getting hammered one day and winning the next. Very funny year. Preparations not as well planned as normal for teams. Some just finding out that their game plan won't hold up in winter, a couple of tweaks, a bit more prep and all of a sudden they are competitive again. I'm thinking Cork and Wexford.....they cannot be that bad.

Yeah I agree but Brian Cody has a knack for squeezing the most out of his players.

I was at the Galway V Tipp league game in March. The Tribesmen really impressed me that day so no surprise how good they were against Wexford. Then again, Wexford were surprisingly poor. Limerick are the real deal.

I agree Cork and Wexford are better than what they showed.

I have given up on Gleeson a long time ago.He won't learn and not a team player. Also takes too many hail mary shots with players in a better position. A rare talent but a liability that Liam Cahill will not put up with. He deserves to be suspended by the report of the match officials and not t.v. Should the whole game be revised to see did the officials miss any thing else. I do believe Cork had a number of yellows and belief Waterford had none. Conor Gleeson was sacrificed for Austin in 2017 and I believe it cost us an All Ireland. No disrespect to Galway.
Not excusing him in any way but trial by television is wrong. I can see using video to verify an incident that has been noted and dealt with by the officials. In effect it is the commentators have the power and keep replaying incidents. What about possible other incidents they do not pick up on. An example of that is 2017 when Conor had a hurley buried in his ribs like Austin did and he swung around with his stick across the ankles and missed an All-Ireland final. The other player missed a league game the following year. Commentators can be biased and are not the games officials. Gleeson is an idiot but I would not want any player from any county tried and suspended by t.v. If there is nothing in the referees report on an incident in a game it should not even be getting looked at. How many off the ball pulls are missed especially with no t.v. coverage and nothing happens.

Agree 100% if you are going to go to TV review the whole game and there would be a lot more put off or carded. Missed calls are part of the game you have to deal with it and move on. Noel McGrath picked up the ball on Sunday and a goal was scored. Limerick took the call and moved on that's what g00d teams do.

Agreed. It's opening up a Pandora's Box if you start that stuff.

It is not fair to the officials either showing them up. They missed it or did not see it okay. So the next day that ref or another ref will blow if someone f-rts because mister t.v. pundit is going to make him look bad. They replayed this three times and pointed out what Gleeson did. Which he did no argument but how about replaying it once and let the viewers form their own opinion. The viewers are not stupid and can clearly see what he did.
With regards Gleeson you would think some one in Mount Sion like Tony Brown or Ken McGrath would have a chat with him and tell him quit acting the maggot. He is doing this **** both in club games and inter county games,
