Well if golf is widely considered a sport, so should snooker as far as I'm concerned.

Darts, in a different setting, would be too. The fact that the crowds are mainly boozers, Instagrammers, day-trippers and those there for the "experience"who haven't much interest in what's going on up on the stage doesn't help...

Just thinking- A lot of those darts spectators must have gone to Six Nations matches in recent years ; -)

Proud member of the Red Army and I was fortunate to be present for those two great days we became kings of Europe.
The Irish rugby team defo come after Munster in the pecking order for me.

After rugby, I suppose I would know what's going on in the soccer world across Europe but have no affinity to any club team, bar a slight passing interest in the fortunes of Liverpool and Barca.

I do love the Champions League though.

Like a lot of us, I follow the national team with huge interest and passion too.
I guess its the hangover from the Charlton years and USA 94 for me, I'm too young to remember Italia 90.

These days, given our modest fortunes since 2002, its more a labour of love than any bandwagon - still watching the Boys in Green documentary over the last couple of weeks makes you very nostalgic for the time when we were a force to be reckoned with, and makes you really, really impatient for a time when we could be again.

Was obsessed with F1 in the 1990s, Damon Hill signing for Jordan and leading them to their first ever win was the stuff of fantasy for me.
But I fell out of love with it in the mid-2000s, I suppose I got sick of Mike Schumacher making every race a formality. I never cared much for him as a driver, though it was nothing personal and it is horrible what has happened to him, one of the greatest sportsmen in modern history.

The first soccer world Cup I remember was Mexico 86 Maradona and Burruchaga were serious players.

Really enjoyed Munster rugby in the 00s as well Ireland winning 6 nations and grand slams, had some great sessions, I love NFL but back here in Dingle I'm ploughing a lone furrow on that.

Love most sports. But after GAA it's the beautiful game for me, big fan of Bohemian FC and soft spot for Liverpool and Barca. Also love watching basketball. Big fan of cycling, like watching tennis, golf, motorsports, boxing, athletics. Sport is just great.

Aussie Rules.

Boxing and Soccer would probably be my two favourite, have stopped following the premiership though, champions league though is a great competition, also follow my local non league team over here and like to go to random games around Europe, been lucky to have been to a few of the big derbys.

Hurling for me would be number one, followed by football (soccer). I'm a huge Liverpool fan and just love love what Klopp is doing at Liverpool. After that it would be rugby, golf, snooker, darts, not really a fan of American sports as I can't stand how long the games go on for.

NFL? Sorry Kingdomboy but I've no interest at all. Tried to watch some of the Superbowl once or twice but gave up. A 60min game turned into a 5 hour torture of ads and breaks in play.

I mean there's fellas being paid millions a year and they might never touch the ball in their entire career. A whole new team for attack and then another for defence and then a kicker just coming on to kick? At most 30 seconds of uninterrupted play before another 10 minutes of ads and standing around, sorry not for me my friend.

Any decent rugby team would run rings around those Yanks if the sissy ever got out of their helmets and body armour ;D

Snooker is brilliant when in season. I've been to world final in Sheffield twice. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to get tickets and I would highly recommend it.

Association Football is my big interest outside of the GAA, particularly the trials and tribulations of the pride of the Northside, the Bohemian Football Club.

To be honest, I'd have Bohs on a par with the Dubs in terms of interest, followed by the Irish team.

Outside of GAA and Soccer I don't have a huge interest in any other sports. I enjoy watching the Olympics when it comes around (not looking good this year) but that's about it.

Between club and county GAA (men's and women's football, hurling and Camogie), LoI Football, International football, Champs/Europa League and keeping an eye of various leagues around Europe I don't have the ability to get interested in any other sport to be honest. I used to love boxing but would only watch the very odd fight nowadays.

Like a lot of people on here I'm absolutely sport mad. Needless to say i don't know what to be doing with myself. Here's my favourites

1. GAA
2. Boxing (toss up between this and soccer)
3. Soccer
4. Rugby (this use to be arguably my2nd favourite sport, but over the years my interest has waned, cant really identify with it anymore, sport for the yuppies) Still watch all the Ireland games and would still get nervous watching the big games. No interest whatsoever in the Leinster team, would shout for Munster over them)
5. Tennis
6. Golf
7. Horse Racing (although tbh i have no interest in it unless i have a few bob on any given race)
8. Athletics

Ah it's excellent the hermit, I know what your saying about the stop start nature of the game but it just gives you a chance to drink more beer and it's so tactical, this year's winners Kansas City were a good bit behind in a lot of their games in the knock out stages even in the final against sanfancisco and still managed to figure out away to win with a ver young talented quarter back in Patrick Maholms who is a relation to the johnny Maholms family from killarney.

I'd recommend NFL to every1.

Replying To lionofludesch:  "Snooker isn't a sport.

It's a skilful game but it doesn't have that element of physical effort to make it a sport."
Sometimes it can be difficult to know what is, and what isn't a sport.

When is a sport not a sport?

What exactly makes something a sport? Does it require physical exertion, a governing body, a high level of skill and technical ability? How does an activity go from being seen as a game or a pastime to being officially classified as a sport?

The Council of Europe charter on sport uses the following definition: "Sport means all forms of physical activity, which through casual or organised participation, aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels".

I'd love to see a decent rugby player try to out-muscle Khalil Mack or Aaron Donald.

Seriously though I personally enjoy NFL, probably my favourite sport and it's getting more popular in Ireland every year. I'm sure there'll be alot of Tampa Bay jerseys knocking around soon after last weeks news.

Basketball is very enjoyable too. I live in Canada and have access to alot of televised NBA games (not right now for obvious reasons) I always try to tune in when LeBron, Khawhi, Giannis etc... and all those top guys are playing, they're unreal. It's interesting how some of the top GAA players have become akin to basketball players in their skill levels and footwork etc.
