I would say 3,500 to 4,000 in portlaois , Armagh definitely had the majority, but Laois the better team cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1688 - 01/02/2020 22:25:50 2264342 Link 1 |

I think the u-16s are "clicked" through are they not? If that's the case there was probably closer to 20K in castlebar sat night

Turn style clicks them through, so they are counted too

Healthy attendances this year again. League of Ireland would kill for those, if only the majority of soccer fans realised sitting year in year out watching teams in another country on the television doesn't make you a fan. Antifa (Donegal) - Posts: 143 - 04/02/2020 07:46:57 2264994 Link 1 |
While I like a bit of English soccer, attending league games around the country this time of year is much more fun than staying at home and watching the lads on Sky selling something that just isn't there. OGarmaile (Tyrone) - Posts: 248 - 04/02/2020 10:49:37 2265030 Link 0 |
Even compared to the Pro 14 rugby those attendances are massive. The official attendance at Thomond Park for Munster Pro 14 fixtures is always announced at between 11 and 15k but they are counting pre sold season tickets there. To their credit there are about 10k of season tickets sold each year but the majority of those season ticket holders don't seem to show for league games they are signing up to get tickets for the big games. Often there is between 5 and 8k in the ground. For Limerick to get 14k in the ground for the Galway game is unreal. You often get articles of about falling GAA attendances. I'd say they are way up over all. Certain championship attendances are down but that is often in case where the result is a forgone conclusion. tomhealycork (Cork) - Posts: 80 - 04/02/2020 11:34:18 2265050 Link 1 |
GAA is much bigger than Rugby despite what the media may say and give extreme coverage too....everyone I know all week was looking forward to heading to Castlebar sat night...I never see that with Connacht rugby (which has made great strides don't get me wrong)...limerick is a big rugby city but outside of it I'd imagine hurling is still king.
