Agreed that the counties need to do what's best for themselves. Kerry only have 8 senior clubs. That has meant that their intermediate and junior champions have achieved a lot in the All-Ireland series. Their divisional system then gets the best inter and junior players playing senior football. It works for them, but wouldn't for all counties. I think Galway has far too many senior hurling clubs. We might have a much larger population than Kilkenny, but we're a fully dual county and also split along football/hurling lines. The status of being a senior hurling club seems to be more important to some than competing at a suitable level. Problem there is that the Senior champions in counties like Donegal would be in the Intermediate Championship. Let's face it. The Galway Senior B champions would hammer them.
