The end of the 2010's is fast approaching so what better time to pick our Hurling Team Of The Decade. Administrator (None) - Posts: 2274 - 18/11/2019 13:27:00 2250145 Link 0 |

Most of them would pick themselves and I would say that would be fairly. right

Sean Finn has only been on the scene a short while. If it was a team of the last two years he would probably be on it. I'd have Noel Connors ahead of him and Daithi Burke ahead of Barrett.

I'd go along with that six. An absolutely brilliant backline. Limerick guys are probably not there long enough to be seriously considered for team of the decade, but no doubt their time will come.

Agree about Limerick plenty of time for this team to work on filling out the 20's team. Declan Hannon comes really close though but 6 is a competitive position

6 serious operators.

Hard to disagree with this selection. Honorable mentions to Brian Hogan, Padraig Walsh, Joey Holden, Cathal Barrett and Noel Connors. Very difficult to argue for Limerick or Clare defenders who were good for a couple of years but not prominent over the decade.

Declan Hannon played 6 for 3 seasons over the decade - was poor in 2017, dreadful in the all ireland semi finals of 2018 and 19 (admittedly injuired in 19). No way is he even a contender for 6. He was a quality half forward from 2011-14 and played well for most games at 6 in 2018/19 but not a contender for team of the decade in either position imo.

He was also an essential member and captain of an all Ireland winning team and there is an obvious difference when he is missing from the Limerick team and and was a key player in 18/19 not just played well

I wouldnt have him in it but he was your best player in 2018. The main reason you won the All Ireland and you probably would have done back to back only he had to go off this year.

Not disputing that he was captain, nor am I disputing that he has been a key player for Limerick. You commented that he would be close to center back on team of the decade, which is nonsense.

Well firstly to be pedantic, the decade doesn't end until the end of 2020. However my 6 defenders so far in this decade are: 890202 (Wexford) - Posts: 1278 - 20/11/2019 09:29:58 2250446 Link 0 |
Seamus Callanan goal vs Wexford All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Final 2019. Super finish. He pulled first time on the ball that hopped up lovely from a Niall O' Méara hand pass that was running away from the goals. Coopers_Helmet (Tipperary) - Posts: 154 - 20/11/2019 11:51:53 2250481 Link 0 |

Austin Gleeson ahead of Brendan Maher. He's ahead of 2 or 3 Austin Gleesons'
