Is Now The Time For Brian Cody To Step Down?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

By the logic of this thread shouldn't every manager except Sheedy step down

Cody did an outstanding job this year beating Cork and Limerick.

Fair enough. I didn't see the match yet. Still at work.

Replying To Trump2020:  "Just Joking of course. I hope I got a ride out of someone. Ha ha ha. In losing I still think Brian Cody did his best ever job of managing. More of a legend in my mind than before. Congratulations to Tipp Seniors and Galway Minors. Bad day for Kilkenny but they'll be back."
Joking aside, no. If Eddie had been by his side a couple years( imagining the impossibility that he was already after accumulating his current level of experience(could've, would've, should've, ...if), + a couple yrs w/Brian. In those circumstances, then yes, this or a couple more. On the other hand, the current drought('16-'19) has produced 2 AI Finals appearances. While this is the perfect age profile to hand off I think the narrow description & high bar in KK of an acceptable replacement to Brian make this a hugely complicated task w/the the necessary combination of experience & talent w/which to mine & guide, @ highest levels, the very skillful youth coming through. Not to mention mold the best of the old w/the the new, w/out rewriting the script entirely. Henry will always be there or thereabouts in the discussion. Great duo! Got quite a beating today but congratulations to all the hurlers today.

Brian cody has the right to decide as far as im concerned. Richie hogan should not be sent off. Barrett made the most of it. Like nickey english and silvie back in the day. Barrett tactics are terrible. Richie hogan can hold his head high. A genuine competitor.

Cody got Kilkenny to an All-Ireland Final when they weren't good enough to be there. They might have been better off not being there too because losing an All-Ireland Final by 14 points to your greatest rivals will hurt down by the Nore. The Manager with questions to answer after this year's championship isn't Cody who overachieved with his team but the Limerick Manager John Kiely who lost 3 championship matches with the best team and panel of payers in the country at his disposal.

Comeon HS problems(noticed my last post wasn't clear & had spelling errors among others issues).

SUGGESTIONS:

- Fix : quoting problems(new problem)

ADD :
+ 'edit' button
+ A 'mute poster button(please, we can only
ignore Katser so much). If no mute/ban
button then why have the moderators done
nothing?
+ A Football, Hurling, Misc. GAA, tag for forum post would be a big help for readers & staff alone.
THANK YOU Hoganstand for another year of helping us North American fans in the loop. Great fall, club season. Congrats to Tipp & KK

I hope he stays because I fear with Eddie Brennan they'd win leinster and AI.

Indeed. When Eddie Brennan was managing Kilkenny's U21s a couple of years ago, they lost to Westmeath in the Leinster championship. The championship should be very open next Summer with a number of teams being in with a chance.Kilkenny under Cody will never be too far away but the team just isn't good enough at the moment and they were found out today.

Well he can't really, he got the line and Kilkenny lost by 14 points?

Same man who's first to moan about anybody using excuses and correct me if I'm wrong but famous for saying i don't comment on refs performance they have it hard enough and decisions tend to even themself out.....Lol gave an excuse master class today to media...fact is never should been in all ireland final 2 losses one draw and two wins where teams never performed shows how current system is just money cow

Ya we should sack the lad who brought us an AI after 45 years and won the league and Munster this year. Cop on lad

Yes Cody can comment on refs when it suits.Ten years ago,in the 2009 Final, the sending off of Tipp player Benny Dunne turned the game in Kilkenny's favour. This thread is about Cody but I want to compliment Liam Sheedy. He!s a serious man Manager and if he stays on for a few years,Tipp will win more All-Irelands.I often thought it was a pity Sheedy quit as Tipp Manager after winning the 2010 Final against Kilkenny.Kilkenny went on to beat Tipp in the championship in each of the following 4 years.Very much doubt that would have happened if Sheedy had stayed on.

Replying To winatallcost:  "So you want him to go because you don't like his hat. Ridiculous thread to have up at the moment. If Kilkenny won today there would be separate thread about this year being his greatest achievement. Reality was that referee decision on sending off totally changed what would have been a close game. Cody has class and is the greatest manager in the history of Gaelic games weather people like it or not!"
It wasnt the ref who went in to take a lads head off so dont blame the ref.

As for Cody ide love to see him go and not cause he is doing a bad job but just for thr novelty factor of seeing KK with someone new

Worst Kilkenny team of the Cody era and still better than Cork, lol!

GOAT

Kilkenny shouldn't have been there today. Probably 2/3 better teams. But because of Cody, they got there.

Lad.Limerick won U21 All-Irelands in 2015 hammering Wexford and in 2017 comprehensively beating Kilkenny.Kiely has the most talented squad in the country at his disposal yet he lost 3 championship games this Summer. Not nearly good enough and winning the League or even Munster doesn't compensate.Tipp have tonight in the Burlington Clayton hotel the only cup that really matters now in the hurling year.
