Tyrone Vs Cork

What are your thoughts?

Did I read Cork were 7/2 for this game? Crazy odds.

Cork were excellent for 50 mins against the Dubs, maybe fitness letting them down in last 10 mins. Scoreline certainly didn't reflect the performance.

Should be a good game. I think it's giving a wet night.

I think Tyrone will win in a good close game

As well as Cork have played against Dublin and Kerry, I actually think this is a terrible match-up for them. Tyrone will gobble up their runners in my opinion and if they are as loose in attack in terms of turnovers and missed chances, Tyrone are the type of side that will absolutely kill you on the counter.

I hope I'm wrong as I'd love for Cork to actually get a big win to reward their efforts this summer (added bonus being against our dear neighbours). Plus it would keep a lot of interest in this group going into the final weekend rather than having a couple of dead rubbers .

Originally from Cork, so I know the fragile nature of Cork football. Good to see the team try and play good football this championship. The Dublin game brought back memories of a Cork V Donegal game from 5/6 years ago where they started well taking long range scores against the Donegal blanket in the first half only to finally tire and miss those same chances in 2nd half. Both result were inevitable, albeit by much different margins.
Tyrone are too seasoned and able to dig out wins in against less composed/experienced opposition. I think the odds are about right.

I think Tyrone will be far too strong for Cork to be honest. I don't think Cork can play much better than they did against Dublin last weekend and two trips to Croker in 6 days will cause fatigue.

They definitely have some dangerous forwards in Deane and Hurley, but Tyrone should be able to open up there defence easily enough.

Tyrone by 10+

Cork will in all likelihood put up a reasonable tally as they have done in their last 2 games against two of the best around but they look very open I expect that they will be hurt repeatedly by Tyrone's counter attacking style.
Tyrone to beat the bookies handicap of -4pts and book a place in the semis again

Dublin showed Cork no respect to Cork, they played with a opened defence, Dublin rarely if ever under Gavin do that in AI series matches. Tyrone are not going to give Cork the same time and room on the ball to create and score so expect Cork to produce their lowest score this year in this game. Biggest problem for Cork is they remain poor in defence and those are the type of teams that Tyrone will score freely against i'd also wonder how much energy Cork have left after putting so much into that Dublin game?

I can't see past a comfortable win for Tyrone

I'm hoping Cork get the win here, it will not be easy but Cork have the players to do it.

I must admit that I really underestimated Cork this year. I had just thought Kerry played terrible in the Munster final but Cork proved against Dublin they are a good side. They ran through Kerry and Dublin at times but ran out of steam at the end of both games but I've been very impressed with them. Ruairi Deane is absolute class, would get in the Dublin team.

I still expect Tyrone to win, they are going along nicely and will not allow Cork to run through them. Tyone by 5/6 points.

Tyrone by 8-10 points. Can't see us slipping up in this one. I have been critical of our performances in big games at Croke Park in the last ten years but we are totally ruthless at disposing of teams we are stronger than. In championship, only Kerry, Mayo and Dubs have beaten us since 2010.

I recall a loss to Armagh in 2014 at home but maybe you are talking about Croke Park games only?

plus Donegal several times, Monaghan a couple of times.

if you don't count all the times Tyrone have lost since 2010, we won 9 out of 9 All-Irelands

Think cork will find it difficult to pick themselves up after last week, played out of their skin for 60 odd minutes and still ended up getting hammered.

Main thing they need is to have a start like they did against Dublin, if Tyrone get ahead by any more than 3 points I can't see them being caught. With corks open style of play also going forward they could get caught badly on the counter when Tyrone turn them over.

Anyway hoping for a competitive and entertaining game especially as I'll be in croker for this double header. Still can't see anything other than Tyrone winning by 5 or so points.

Very difficult game for Cork. It's hard to see were they have an advantage over Tyrone. Tyrone can cope with the running game and their defence will close down any space for Hurley and Collins.

At the other end of the field that inside forward line is lethal. I really think Cork need to be a bit more pragmatic in this game and give their fullback line some protection.

Everybody said Meath and Cork were right to go man to man against Dublin but I don't buy it. I think you still need some sort of sweeper system while always retaining a few forwards up top. Dublin try not to leave their full back line one on one so it doesn't make sense to me why the team playing against them would. I really think Tyrone could tweak their system just a little bit to give more balance and they'd give Dublin a real go.

Outside of the Super 8s game against Roscommon last year I'm pretty sure the only teams Tyrone have beaten in Croke Park are Armagh and Monaghan since 2010. Doesn't look as good when you put it that way.

Cork once had our number, would beat us in the league guaranteed then thump us in championship. Can't understand how they ended up in division 3. I was surprised we beat them last yr so easily and still I'd be worried enough about playing them. Will Tyrone play their open style from the league or is it third time lucky for the 13 men in defence approach ....I'd just love if they mixed it up more because no team will beat Dublin if they don't play a variety of ways. However We are the best of the rest Barr Kerry, Mayo. The current Ulster champions don't even scratch the surface as contenders for the prize of all ireland trophy. Club Tyrone I hear made good takings on the betting odds when Harte played a weakened side against them previous meeting. It explains a lot why Tyrone fielded the worst team all year and treated the game as a friendly. We should win this weekend and get our rightful place in semis.

The double Ulster champions who had you beaten at half time this year in championship aren't a patch on Tyrone. Okay...

Aw lad, you would give Kevin McAleer a run for his money. But he's a lot funnier, you're just having delusions of grandeur.

Yes, just talking about Croke Park games. We've beaten a fair few teams there since 2010: Monaghan (3 times), Meath, Sligo, Armagh, Roscommon. But yeah we shouldn't have lost any of them.
