With Galway gone early from the hurling championship will this cost the GAA. KK don't travel until All Ireland final so they will bring a small attendance maybe the yellow belllies will travel in numbers but not to the same level as galway had. Dublin have a small support base . heartbroken (Galway) - Posts: 370 - 16/06/2019 14:09:53 2195737 Link 0 |
The Gaa have enough money. At least you still have the football to look forward to today. Try to cheer up-)

Wexford out numbered Galway about 2-1 at the Leinster Final 2 years ago, I would say the GAA are delighted we are there! StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 1732 - 16/06/2019 14:21:55 2195743 Link 0 |
You can follow the galway footballers now. They could do with a few more for the super 8s BeJasus (UK) - Posts: 383 - 16/06/2019 14:22:16 2195744 Link 0 |
More Wexford fans than Galway in Croke Park in 2017? Id say the attendance in 2 weeks wont be far off the record attendance for a Leinster final that year.

They must have lost money too when ye qualified for the football semis last year. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8589 - 16/06/2019 14:30:14 2195748 Link 4 |
How did the Leinster Hurling Championship ever manage to survive before Galway deigned to enter it? Maybe Leinster should bring in a new rule: Galway automatically go straight into the Leisnter final; and everyone else plays off to see who meets them in the final. I know it;s not the All-Ireland semi-final. which Galway used to go straight into, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2460 - 16/06/2019 14:35:16 2195752 Link 1 |
I'm sure the GAA will survive. Is that one of the main things on your mind when your county exit the championship? BliainanÁir (Laois) - Posts: 598 - 16/06/2019 14:44:44 2195755 Link 0 |
The GAA need a strong Galway hurling team. I believe they should invest 20m over the next 10 years as you are the hurling cash cow. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 16/06/2019 14:46:51 2195756 Link 3 |
Let go of that bitterness man. As for Galway deigning to enter the Leinster Hurling Championship, I see you've chosen to ignore the role your own Nickey Brennan played in facilitating it.

I think Dublin hurling will get the money

You know someone's seriously hurting when they start a thread like this after their county exits the championship.

Would a Wexford vs Dublin final have attracted more then Kilkenny vs Wexford?

Maybe we can just put them back in? For the sake of the gaas future. carlovia (None) - Posts: 1517 - 16/06/2019 16:02:51 2195800 Link 1 |
One of the most insular and ungracious posts on here in a long time. Wexford have phenomenal support. Kilkenny easily match Galway and Dublin have a serious hard core base of fans following them for decades. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 16/06/2019 16:05:21 2195804 Link 2 |
Of course I am hurting. But I know that we are out because we did not put up a score against Carlow, we were poor against wexford, showed how good we could be against KK. Then came up against Dublin in a tight pitch with a poor referee. Fair play to Dublin they fought for their lives and had a will to win. heartbroken (Galway) - Posts: 370 - 16/06/2019 16:10:09 2195805 Link 0 |

The top brass in Croke Park won't be worried about financial loss with Galway out early. A phone call in the morning to the agent of some has been band will do the trick. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 2990 - 16/06/2019 18:30:48 2195933 Link 0 |
