(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Last night the Armagh v Monaghan ( McKenna Cup) match was delayed due to the crowd.
Official attendance was 3,680 but with children etc the figure was close to 5,000

Down v Donegal had 2,300 last Sunday
Antrim v Armagh 2,000 aprox

There has been threads discussing attendances in general for calender years on this forum for years. Why is this year different?

Huge crowd in Tuam. Did not get the exact figure but looked like a 7/8k crowd. The age old rivalry still very much alive.

I don't work in Galway but I know where you are coming from. All that mayo hard work keeping Galway running and our colorful culture has benefitted ye greatly ;) See ye in the NFL...where a win for us is vital to start turning the tide.

The reason why I started this post is that we have some fantastic attendances around the country each week and it needs to be highlighted - up north we get a TV and radio crew at each Irish League soccer match but it is a struggle to get BBC or UTV to attend matches
I attended the Armagh v Donegal match in neutral Omagh yesterday and there wasa very healthy 3-3.500 in the ground.
I believe Tyrone v Derry in Armagh had a similar attendance.
Down v UUJ in the McGurk Cup Final also had a good crowd.

But the Galway v Mayo figure of 7,000 ish is the weekend highest - great figure for the venue, the town of Tuam and the Connacht Council

What were the attendences at the Mc Grath Cup Final and the O'Byrne Cup matches

Some very big crowds at these games which is great to see. Am I right in saying that there has been a bit of a change in Ireland and people who might in the past have gone for a few pints on a Saturday night are now not bothering and are going to matches on a Sunday instead? I was surprised at just how many pubs had shut down across the country last time I was there.

Some very encouraging attendances indeed and Parnell Park didn't have much room to spare either.

Lets face it the attendances in the Munster Hurling League have been very good, - I didn't see any TV footage ( might have missed it) but great crowds

The O'Byrne and McKenna cup finals are live on TV next weekend i would expect 7-10,00 at each on a cold January evening....

I'd say roughly 3,000 were at Cavan v Down, huge crowd considering it was the first Sunday after Christmas, I was at Dublin v Meath also , there had to be at least 8,000, which made for a brilliant atmosphere, apparently it was the biggest crowd in Parnell Park for a Dublin game since the league game against Kerry in 2009
