After Cushendall's Ulster final win over Ballycran yesterday, there are nine teams left in the All Ireland club hurling championship race. PortInFaithful (Offaly) - Posts: 472 - 12/11/2018 14:42:26 2150783 Link 0 |
For the craic, anyone want to have a go at ranking the nine teams left? PortInFaithful (Offaly) - Posts: 472 - 12/11/2018 14:45:04 2150786 Link 0 |
Cushendall would fancy their chances against any of those teams outside the top 4 Port. To be honest I would also, so id have them in at least 5th place. I think only St Thomas and Na Piarsaigh would beat them with a bit to spare. Graffin will be a big loss for them if he doesn't make the semi mind you bumpernut (Antrim) - Posts: 1852 - 12/11/2018 15:05:59 2150791 Link 0 |
Fair enough bumper, maybe I was being harsh on Cushendall. But I don't think there's a lot between the teams I've ranked from 5-9.

Katser it's very hard to take you seriously. You backed against Limerick in every round of the Championship this year even when you obviously were just being pedantic. Now you rate Cushendall and a few more ahead of Na Piarsaigh. No evidence to support your assertion of course. I think you might actually have a very limited grasp of the subtleties of the ancient game. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 14/11/2018 16:02:44 2151142 Link 2 |

That particular poster stood out over the championship for me for pretty much all the reasons you've just touched on. He/she, time and again tried to make some asinine comment about Limerick, completely writing us off. This is just an other example, but its irrelevant. Any genuine hurling supporter knows Na P are one of the best club sides in the country. Probably shouldn't even be drawing attention to it to be honest. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1106 - 14/11/2018 22:39:18 2151173 Link 1 |

I fancy another another Cushendall v NAP final. I think NAP will get over Ballygunnar and Galway Opposition in semi. Past hurler (None) - Posts: 928 - 15/11/2018 18:15:56 2151253 Link 0 |
I'm nearly sure if St. Thomas' win the Galway title then it's them v Cushendall in the All Ireland Semi Final which would be some match and wouldn't Ballyhale/Shamrocks v Ballygunner in the other Semi Final be some match too if they both come out of their respective Provinces!

The problem with that prediction is Cushendall will be playing the Galway winners, not a Leinster team in the semi. Could still end up with your final though.

I would imagine Cushendall will be hoping for a Liam Mellows victory this weekend. Mellows will be seen as lesser opposition like Sarsfields whom the Dall easily beat to make it to the All Ireland final in 2016. St Thomas with David Burke, Conor and Shane Cooney, Eanna Burke, all inter county hurlers, were All Ireland champions not that long ago. The Munster final has the hallmarks of a classic encounter. Ok it was far from that last year with Pauric Mahony misfiring. If Ballygunner can show the same fight and determination as the Ballyea game then they can beat NAP. NAP definitely are beatable. They got four Munster final wins and Ballygunner will be hell bent not to lose to the same opposition for the third time in four years on the big stage. I wouldn't rule out two shocks in the Leinster semi finals. Coolderry will need to find more improvement to beat Ballyboden though. The Offaly champions were well beaten by Clonkill in a challenge game last month and Clonkill proved to be a match for Boden. Clonkill have some very good hurlers though, that would make any club side and are top county hurlers for Westmeath, I wasn't that shocked to see them rattle Ballyboden. I think Cushendall(already in), Ballyboden(just about), St Thomas and NAP will make up the 4 semi finalists but I think Leinster could prove the stickiest because there would very very little between Coolderry, Ballyhale, Naomh Eanna or Ballyboden at present. Cushendall are a long way short of what they were when they got to the All Ireland Final. Although I want to see the Cushendall Ruairi Orgs win I do believe whoever comes out of Galway will walk into the final by 10-15 points. Antrim and Ulster hurling has gone backwards this past ten years.

I'll take St Thomas's by one or two points. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2509 - 16/11/2018 20:02:23 2151357 Link 2 |
