NAP to win by 8-10 points I'd imagine

I'd fancySsarsfields and Capptaggle in these two but both will be close contests.

And I would fancy Thomas's and Mellows! Would like to see Cappy win their match though.

On paper yes, but I wouldn't write off Clonoulty, they have shown great heart and spirit throughout the Tipp championship.

Many of us 'neutrals' in Lmerick might not be too unhappy if NAP did not progress this year, as it would allow for a more total focus on the county team, in their efforts to do what no Limerick has done in the past.

That is definitely a downside to a club run especially if the club is contributing key players to the county team. Dillon Quirke is an exciting prospect for Tipp and will have to wait until after the club championship. I'm glad Sarsfields are out for the same reason as you, the Maher brothers can get a much needed break from hurling.

The standard of Club hurling is falling. No stand out club left in Munster except Na Piarsaigh. Ballygunnar might put it up to them, I hope they do. Can't see anything except a Ballyhale v Na Piarsaigh showdown to decide the cup..Even Galways standard is way down.. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 01/11/2018 19:28:39 2149163 Link 0 |
Agreed but if Thurles havent faired will in Munster I don't see how this Clonoulty team will

Agreed on the overall standard but don't fancy Ballyhale to get out of Leinster to be honest

I'd probably bet the opposite of you in both matches but with as close as all these teams are nothing would surprise me. St Thomas's have been the form team all year but that means nothing once the match starts. Liam Mellows are the defending champs and played well all year too. Cappataggle are the odd ones out for me. A real Cinderella team like Mellows was last year. You can flip a coin on these matches and still be as wise as I am. I look forward to them.

For what it's worth Cappataggle finished 4th in their group while Sarsfields finished first. It was loaded group with Joe Cannings Portumna finishing last and barely escaping dropping to Intermediate next year! http://www.galwaygaa.ie/senior-hurling-qualifiers-2015 Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2509 - 02/11/2018 17:21:03 2149291 Link 0 |
You can't drop to Intermediate from Senior A. Senior A to Senior B then to Intermediate katser (Galway) - Posts: 2570 - 02/11/2018 22:14:31 2149338 Link 1 |

Ballyboden St Endas and Clonkill is postponed tomorrow due to a tragedy in the Clonkill club. Looking forward to the clash of Coolderry and Mount Leinster Rangers in Tullamore. A lot of people writing off the Carlow champions but I expect a close game. PortInFaithful (Offaly) - Posts: 472 - 03/11/2018 12:37:11 2149391 Link 0 |
Thurles aren't suited to the soft ground. They like the hard ground and do their best work then. It's a pity that these games are played in October - December. Clonoulty's inexperience is either a curse or a blessing. NAP should still beat them especially when it's in Limerick. I hope they give it a right good rattle and have no regrets. It's not the soft ground that was Thurles issue it was that they are soft full stop. That they managed to lose so many games they were in control of in Munster tells a tail. And they were not that good anyway, mediocre teams with heart beat them. The Tipperary championship is not a good standard anyway....witness Na Piarsaigh beating Clonulty up a stick. They never had a hope.

After watching Ballygunner and Ballyea on record and my god what an absolute epic battle between two never say die teams. Ballyea didn't deserve to lose out in a second period of extra time but Pauric Mahony's point taking, his brother Philip's last ditch goal and Niall Deasy's nerves of steel to point the 65 at the death. I'd watch it all over again. PortInFaithful (Offaly) - Posts: 472 - 04/11/2018 19:44:18 2149533 Link 0 |
