You were right about Corofin. I figured the same. MM had their chance to put them away.

Finbarr's look clueless. They're winning plenty ball, but they're just constantly carrying it into tackles and getting turned over. On a day as wet and pitch as heavy as that, it's the stupidest tactic imaginable. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2288 - 11/11/2018 14:07:28 2150566 Link 0 |
Wow Dr Crokes outrageous football , everyone of them outstanding I've given Buckley a lot of stick over the years but he had some game today, don't care if Corofin are still in the champo Dr Crokes are the team to beat this year no doubt about it. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 11/11/2018 15:00:55 2150574 Link 1 |
Wait till Gavin White comes up against Kieran Molloy of Corofin....rocket boosters when he gets going.

I guess the scare Corofin got in the Galway County Final woke them up. What a performance. I would never predict that match to be so one sided. I expect Ballintubber to be a stiff test. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2485 - 11/11/2018 16:53:43 2150602 Link 1 |
There looks like an air of inevitability around the club championship this year. Corofin and Crokes look a cut above the rest for me. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13794 - 11/11/2018 19:04:40 2150638 Link 3 |
Aye it's looking that way. Crokes and Corofin not only have the quality obviously, but crucially they have the know-how to handle the competition.. They'd know the craic when it comes to training, how to allow the players to blow off steam over the Christmas, and how to get them back at it etc in the new year. I can't see Crokes slipping up in the Munster final. Corofin will get a stiffer test against Ballintubber no doubt, but the Galway men will surely be favourites to land another provincial title. Paul Mannion is in superb form for Kilmacud so it would be a foolish team that takes them for granted, In Ulster this weekend coming we'll hopefully be treated to a cracker. We all know Crossmaglen will play their way no matter what the opposition. It really is a throwback to watch them play. In Gaoth Dobhair's case they'd have a similar MO. They pride themselves on being traditionalists and will adopt the same high intensity approach. Now in saying that, they're not stupid either. When defensive teams such as Glenties were in opposition the tactics were changed. But the one team that went toe to toe with them playing attacking football, Bundoran - got an unmerciful tanking. The Cross lads won't budge in their approach so it will be an interesting match-up. With my Donegal hat on I'll give GD the nod by a few points (vital that MacNíallais is fit however) In the other semi final Scotstown will fancy their chances but would need to be wary of Eoghan Rua. Derry club football is very strong as we know well from the exploits of Slaughtneill recently and others before them. I think Scotstown will prevail though. On another note, what is going on in Cork football? I know Crokes are a formidable team but Finbarr's couldn't get near them. The inside forwards for Crokes could have been playing in their slippers such was the ease they were able to win ball, turn and clip over points. There have always been great footballers in Cork. Surely they should be more competitive than they've been showing in recent years? Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9730 - 12/11/2018 09:24:27 2150716 Link 0 |
Nemo rangers comfortably beat Dr.Crokes last year in Munster. There's plenty of decent footballers and sides in Cork still, for all that the senior teams on a low ebb

Yeah that's the frustrating thing. Cork should be up there challenging at the top regularly. Is it the case that the proper support structures necessary for a successful county football team just aren't being provided by the board?

Brilliant match in Newbridge yesterday, better than the majority of county matches you'd see. icehonesty (Wexford) - Posts: 2573 - 12/11/2018 14:09:42 2150776 Link 0 |
Already looking forward to St Patrick's Day, Corofin versus Dr Crokes or Kilmacud Crokes. ISupposeSoSheehan (Meath) - Posts: 86 - 12/11/2018 14:58:49 2150788 Link 0 |
Yeah I like to get a look at Gaoth Dobhair cutting loose. From talking to Donegal people they're excited by Gaoth Dobhair. To be fair to them in the county final they had to play what was in front of them. If they come through against Cross I think they'll win Ulster out imo. In Leinster, Portlaoise and Kilmacud should be a very close game, the winner would fancy winning Leinster out but I don't see either beating Crokes or especially Corofin. Yeah I think if Gaoth Dobhair can overcome Cross then they'll be warm favourites for Ulster. While it's true that they have a lot of young players, the same lads have plenty of county experience at underage and senior level so they won't be overawed. Most of the young lads were with their U-21 team last year who not only blitzed through Dongal but also Ulster.

Crokes v Portlaois is probably one of the few time's that the Dublin team hasn't a population advantage Stillorgan has 19 thousand of a pop while Portlaois has 22 thousand. There's a bit of useless information for you all. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 13/11/2018 19:03:47 2151000 Link 3 |
Try adding in Clonskeagh, Mount Merrion, Goatstown and Kilmacud as they are part of the hinterland also.

Who puts a thumb down to a factual post??? In 2018, Corofin (Connacht) played Moorefield (Leinster) in the semi-final at O'Connor Park Tullamore, in 2017 Corofin (Connacht) played Dr Crokes (Munster) in the semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, in 2016 Castlebar Mitchell's (Connacht) played Crossmaglen Rangers (Ulster) in the semi-final at Breffini Park Cavan. So in 2019 the Connacht winners play Ulster and Leinster play Munster. EDH (Galway) - Posts: 371 - 13/11/2018 22:50:15 2151040 Link 0 |
