All Ireland Final 18 - Dublin V Tyrone

Very impressive from Dublin. Tyrone threw everything they had at them for the first 20mins but unfortunately Dublin just upped it a couple of gears after that. Mickey Harte got a lot of his tactics right but Dublin simply had better players. Their fitness and athleticism is unreal. Mannion looked like he barely broke sweat after the game.

I actually thought the ref was good (apart from two black cards that should have been given) and I thought the Dublin penalty was a stonewall penalty. McCann just shoved him, no attempt to block the ball.

Also John Smal was embarrassing with his dive.

Ciarán Kilkenny for player of the year I think.

Not realy. Game was a non spectacle. Would not say Tyrone are best of rest. Think Donegal would have made better game of it today.

Smalls dive was embarrassing similar to a Galway players a few years ago that got a lot of media coverage.

Kilkenny great season but mcCaffrey for player of the year. He's always fantastic, fitness and skill is unreal. He's wonderful to watch no theatrics and really looks like he's absolutely playing just for the love of the game. Broke my heart to see him absolutely beaming as he was subbed in the Galway game but can't blame him. A great ambassador for the game

Imagine how many points Dublin would score if they played against their own defence. That's the glimmer of hope for other counties going forward. I don't think the defence is all it's hyped up to be. Philly's legs are gone. Mick Fitz and Ciano past their best. John Small a complete liability. They give up chances but haven't been punished for it yet. How many of Tyrone's wides were because of defensive pressure on the kicker? Not many. Just poor accuracy.

Problem is you'll have to score 20+ just to keep up

Just read that Tyrone turned Dublin over 23 times. That is some achievement that no other team has even come close to against this Dublin side.

16 wides though. Kick outs and shooting efficiency are absolutely killing them.

The Dublin defence can definitely be got at but the Tyrone forwards aren't nearly good enough to exploit that.I wondered would Tyrone's attack improve after all the bad misses against Monaghan.They didn't.If Tyrone had a couple of scoring forwards,this would have been a very close final.

If you're talking about obvious black cards then you have to mention Colm Cavanagh.. the penalty was far from dubious. Small must be going for his own record of sending offs in finals - the chap is a liability at this stage.

In fairness we see it differently but I think it was Mattie Donnelly who knocked the ball away and the ball was away before Mannion went down. Look as I say Dublin had too much firepower for Tyrone but that was an incredible swing in momentum.

For me as much as Kilkenny gets the plaudits it's McCaffrey who does the most damage for the dubs, his acceleration is astounding and once he beats the first man which he almost always does the dubs have an overlap. He may not get player of the year but I suspect he'd be first on Gavins teamsheet.

Dee you maybe right but Tyrone knocked them out. A few better shot selections might have made a difference.

Great stuff!

Tyrone started like a train and played some lovely football. Bradley, in particular, was impressive. Dublin were poor early but a lot of that was down to Tyrone to be fair.

But what I love about this team is that they don't lose the heads when things go against them. The 2 goals were the winning of the game. Don't really see where the complaints are coming from for the penalty. Looked fairly clear cut to me. Mannion stuck the peno well though. Brilliant 2nd goal then from Dublin. Great awareness from O'Callaghan to find Scully after a good move.

Tyrone kept coming and didn't wilt like some may have expected them to and did get it back to 4 but Dublin then out scored them 3 points to 1 after John Small's red card.

Mannion, Kilkenny, Howard, Rock, McCaffrey and Fenton the stand outs for Dublin today. Mick McAuley with the biggest impact off the bench.

These are amazing days for the city and county's GAA people.

Roll on the Ladies Final.

Yeah but did Donegal not control that game for 60 minutes? And without Paddy McBreherty too. I think Donegal have better quality forwards that would have made a better game of it.

Congratulations Dublin, as clinical and efficient a team as we will ever see.

But Tyrone had them rattled, let them off the hook with the usual Tyrone failings, poor shooting and poor kickouts.

5-1up, McShane hits an awful shot wide that was never on anyway, Dublin go straight up and kick a point. From that kickout, a poor kickout straight to a Dub, penalty conceded, goal and game had totally swung in Dublis favour.

But fair play to them, give them the chance and they bury you.

You wanna play ball man to man, we'll play ball man to man. You wanna play blanket, we'll play blanket. This Dublin team's strength is it's adaptability. You do what you have to do.
