No raging at all, just like the late 80's and 90's, we do look internally and take our own blame for where we are. It's rather unfortunate for Gaelic-football that our lean years have coincided with a poor decade. It was different in the 90's when Ulster had a purple patch.

Ooooh the mask has slipped. A Donegal poster using the term province for Dublin can mean only one thing. You are a kerry poster in disguise which wouldn't surprise me in the least. There's enough of them on here as it. Dubs by 8!

Ger Loughnane lit the fire in the hurling bellies a few years ago saying it'd be bad for the game if an average Kilkenny team were to win 3 in-a-row. The same applies in football. McGuinness is the only one near brave enough to say it by saying that Dublin are beatable. It is bad for the reputation of the game that an advanced sports science regime is dominating like this. It's a pity that our rural brethren haven't been able to put up a better effort while we've been in a state of transition. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8737 - 28/08/2018 18:07:41 2137234 Link 1 |
McGuinness says Dublin are beatable. Can Tyrone save the reputation of Gaelic Football?

Hurling and Football are different codes. The Football 6 should be; Connaught, Dublin, North Leinster, South Leinster, Munster and Ulster. I think people have got the message. Dublin has a capital city council and 3 county councils. Dublin in the Railway Cup as the 5th province makes perfect sense in modern Ireland. Presidential hopefuls are looking for the backing of 4 councils. It's like a game of good old Connect 4! Collect 4 councils, run for President. Collect 4 councils and upgrade from county to province. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8737 - 28/08/2018 18:17:13 2137240 Link 2 |
That's twice you've taken pot shots at the great man on one thread, says more about you as a person I'd say, but sure suck it up and don't be so bitter, your day in the sun shouldn't be another 20 year wait I'm sure, good sir ;-) xx

Future generations will look back on the evolution of Dublin into a province. It'll influence how the decade is judged. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8737 - 28/08/2018 19:07:33 2137253 Link 2 |
Your some Craic lad. not taking this period of dominance by Dublin too well obviously. Should leave the country for a few weeks I think it's going to hurt.

Just need to point out that any county can say they are 'in transition' when they are winning zero. 'Simply not good enough' or 'mismanaged' should replace the term 'transition' if you are any longer than 2 years in the doldrums. Think there's a programme on TG4 tomorrow night at 22.40 on Jim Gavin, might give us an insight into his personality.

I can see Dublin winning this by at least 5 points, if they don't pull up with 20 minutes to go it could be 10 points. gormdubhgorm (Dublin) - Posts: 990 - 28/08/2018 20:01:26 2137271 Link 1 |

You need broad shoulders when you are looseing and broader shoulders when you are winning. Fear and hurt take many forms. If Dublin win this Sunday Kerry are looseing all Ireland's to Dublin at a rate and ratio of 6:1 this decade. Dublin have surpassed their greatest teams of their two 4 in rows for unbeaten games, if they win on Sunday Dublin will have gone 28 games unbeaten in the Championship as opposed to the 19 unbeaten of their team of the 70s and 80s. If Dublin win on a Sunday, they will beat Tyrone on Sunday, something the Kerry team of the 00s could never achieve. If Dublin win on Sunday they will have one 11 national titles this decade to Kerry's 2. Simply put, Dublin's continued success undermines and succeeds the best teams Kerry ever produced. I can understand some of the comments and hurt of some of the Kerry posters. Dublin's success relegated some of their own greatest teams, of course that will leave people feeling insecure. Living in Dublins slip stream in the history of the game really tickles the tummy of the green and gold eyed monster and you get the limited pot shots. It's funny. I won't generlise either there are some gentleman Kerry posters on here like Gerry. Sadly one or two let themselves and their county down. Regardless we will look to our own. Hopefully we can prove worthy of the success we all hope for. I think the game on Sunday will be immensely tight, tough affair myself.
