Slightly off topic but if Galway lose to Kilkenny in the hurling replay they would be due out the following weekend against the winners of Limerick/Carlow (likely Limerick). That is the weekend of the Galway/Kerry. Please GAA do not have both Galway senior teams on the same day at different venues (football is Croker, hurling likely would be Thurles). You did this to us for qualifiers in 2011 with the hurlers in limerick against Cork and the footballers in Navan against Meath (albeit at an earlier stage of the championship. It would be disgraceful at an advanced stage of the championship if this scenario arises. I know Limerick and Antrim have suffered from this previously (and maybe some other dual counties) but very unfair on dual fans. Galway County Board take note and be ready. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1973 - 02/07/2018 09:23:01 2117519 Link 0 |
So after the qualifier draw this morning we pretty much know the groups: TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4515 - 02/07/2018 10:07:50 2117546 Link 1 |
Would think Galway and Kerry would be candidates to progress from Group 1, with Monaghan dark horses if they overcome Laois (but knowing their penchant for collapsing at AL QF stage, though the multi-game format would suit them more) Any of Donegal, Tyrone or Roscommon could take second place in Group 2 (assuming the latter two make it through). The prize for winning Group 1 outright is to potentially stay away from a clash with Dublin until the final (assuming the Dubs somehow manage to win group 2) TearsIn85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 208 - 02/07/2018 10:18:35 2117554 Link 0 |

Its hard to know, there could be a a few shocks in there, Kerry potnetially in Clones, Galway potentially Newbridge. Dublin potentially in Healy park all look tricky fixtures. The home and away fixtures really make some games tougher then others depending on the draw of fixture.

Obviously we need to only worry about Laois for now, but the thoughts of welcoming Kerry to Clones in the middle of summer should be motivation enough! Super 8s are almost here, can't wait! Just hope we close out the job now and make it there. patk (Monaghan) - Posts: 938 - 02/07/2018 11:00:50 2117579 Link 1 |
They could put both our games in Thurles, that would suit everyone, it's a joke dragging us up to crokepark for a neutral venue game.

True but it's based on guaranteeing provincial champions get to play in Croke Park.

Keep an eye out for Palestinians clondalkin, a lot of them around Omagh judging by the flags at Tyrone games.

Replying To Kurt_Angle: "If they split the fixtures, it looks like 4 teams' games will clash directly or indirectly with the World Cup Final. Good luck to the GAA picking who those 4 teams will be." mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1067 - 04/07/2018 00:30:56 2118281 Link 0 |
Very impressed by Roscommon and very good football today! Don't think the Dubs will have it handy in that group with Donegal, Tyrone and Roscommon!!! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2554 - 07/07/2018 18:44:09 2119393 Link 1 |
Definitely, I think most Dubs would with that.

Spot on. Cork and Roscommon's performances today put a different spin entirely on Kerry's and Galway's wins over them. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3148 - 07/07/2018 18:51:17 2119398 Link 0 |
Did you see what Tyrone did to Cork? It just proves Kerry are miles away from Dublin, Dublin for 4 In a row.

I don't know what's wrong in Cork, they should be a lot better, our group looks like its going to have some great games, Dublin will most likely win it but number 2 spot could be any bodies, and that will likely be Kerry's semi final opponents, really looking forward to the super 8's. Dublin v Kerry final and Kerry to win by 2 points. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3181 - 07/07/2018 19:07:51 2119403 Link 0 |
I know Tyrone are flying it! Donegal are going great and Roscommon were a pleasure to watch. But don't worry there will be no 4 in a row for them!
