ISIS do not have this logical world view that you are using to insulate Ireland from attack. GAA are correct on this.

Feared this would happen after recent tragedies elsewhere.

While people scoff at it but bringing sandwiches or some bite to eat is the right job, especially if you've a big appetite.

I had a big dinner before the Clare game in Ennis. At halftime I had sandwiches and fruit to satisfy my hunger.

You'll be queueing forever otherwise at halftime. Paying over the top then for not much that's healthy.

How is this a money-making exercise by the GAA when they'll have to pay more for extra security staff trained to do bag searches and pat down some people? I'd be very cynical of Croke Park myself and their over-inflated cost of woeful food and drinks but no way do I think this is to sell even more crap inside the grounds.

It's extremely unlikely that there'll ever be an ISIS attack in Ireland. But ISIS aren't the most rational bunch. Could strike at anytime anywhere. We're assuming we've never been attacked until now because we're neutral but who knows what their plans are. Who knows where their agenda could go. We've a lot of liberal values that conflict with some Islamic values and as ISIS are unstable, to say the least, an attack in Ireland is not impossible.

Exactly remember a couple of years ago in Tunisia a beach of holiday people was attacked out enjoying the sun, I didn't see any armed garda patrolling the beaches here all week to prevent any attacks.

I'm not arguing they're logical. But you could make the same case for a lone nutter of any persuasion. Should they be allowed to hinder our way of life in any way, no matter how small, if we value civil liberties? Treat them with contempt, not caution.

The same as the UK and America don't have the logical world view when they go into the middle east looking for so called weapons of mass destruction (which America has themselves) which really is an excuse to shop for oil.
You know fluoride for example was stumbled upon by Hitler in the camps while working on prisoner's.
after his demise the Americans discovered what he had found was actually brilliant for making people placid, they got dentist's on board and decided to come up with the idea it's great for your teeth( in actual fact has no effect good or bad on teeth) to get people to take it every day and also introduced it into the water supplies going into homes.
unfortunately we still have that in this country today and is very hard to actually get non flouride toothpaste in most shops.
so while you seem to buy into something there tends to be hidden agendas don't believe everything they feed your mind with as truth.

Some hysteria on here really got to get a grip, just stop watching Sky, CNN etc and you will all feel better. I believe this has nothing to do with terror and all to do with health and safety and as i already that glass at the foot of the Hill is going to come back and bite the GAA one of these days. The only potential for terror attack is on team/event like an international game (soccer/rugby etc) and even then remote if staged in Ireland and then usually against teams from countries contributing to the daftly named "Coalition of the willing". Feel safe but don't bring those big rucksacks and tents to Croke Park.

Yep, and don't forget the Americans cried a river at the end of WW2 and then imported the gas chamber technology that fell into their palms back into their penal system....

Knox, as another member of the second generation diaspora, I know what you're saying. But as I said in an earlier post, saw Stone Roses at Wembley last weekend. 90,000 people, loads and loads of rucksacks..........no problem. Now, if you were looking to make a point and/or secure "martyrdom", what would've been a better target, that gig or Dublin v Kildare in a country that isn't even a member of NATO?

We're all entitled to our opinions but honestly lads, I think this is an overreaction on the part of the GAA

I was at Radiohead in the Point last night and Arcade Fire in Malahide Castle and they were taking larger bags off people on the way in. It was the same at Lansdowne Road for the recent Uruguay and Austria games. There were also armed Gardaí outside the venues and inside.

I feel this is going to become the norm from now on. I don't think it'll do anything in terms of security at all obviously but the GAA are following the crowd here rather than implementing it from their own initiative.
