A general view of footballs.

Derry, Monaghan and Tyrone all enjoyed wins in the Ulster MFC yesterday, while Armagh and Antrim couldn’t be separated.

Derry romped to a 1-21 to 0-3 Group A victory over Down at Páirc Esler with Eamon Young scoring the only goal just after half-time. Down also lost to Monaghan in the sole opening round fixture last weekend.

The other game in the group was equally as one-sided. Goals from Ethan McCaffrey, Matthew Finn and Max McGinnity helped Monaghan to their second win (3-12 to 0-5) at Fermanagh’s expense in Brewster Park.

In Group B, Tyrone held on for a 1-10 to 0-12 victory over Cavan at Kingspan Breffni after the hosts had landed the last three points. Darren Donaghy’s 44th minute goal proved to be the decisive score.

The other Group B tie between Armagh and Antrim at Box-It Athletic Grounds ended in an 0-8 apiece draw after Callum Gribbin grabbed a late equaliser for the Saffrons.
