Derry 3-17
Fermanagh 2-8
Two goals from Shane McGuigan helped Derry to a comfortable win over Fermanagh in Brewster Park this afternoon.
Playing with the breeze, Fermanagh trailed 0-5 to 2-9 at the break as they struggled to contain the Derry runners.
McGuigan’s first goal 13 minutes in put his side 1-5 to 0-2 ahead and when Paul Cassidy was given the freedom of the Fermanagh full back line to poke in a second goal just before the half hour mark, Derry led 2-7 to 0-3.
Derry took Conor Glass off on the 40 minute mark when they were 10 clear but Fermanagh showed some life with a goal from full back Ché Cullen to narrow the gap to seven.
McGuigan replied almost immediately with a penalty goal after Benny Heron was fouled.
Cullen grabbed a second Fermanagh goal but a flurry of points from McGuigan, Cassidy and Niall Toner saw the Oakmen comfortably home.
