Former Dublin forward Paul Flynn felt the timing was wrong for Kildare manager Glenn Ryan’s comments after his side’s Leinster SFC semi-final loss to the Dubs last Sunday.

Ryan launched a scathing attack on GAA officials for continuing to allow Dublin to play virtually all of their games in Croke Park.

Speaking on Second Captains this week, six-time All-Ireland winner Flynn reckoned the timing wasn’t right for Ryan's comments, particularly after a game his side could’ve won.

“His timing, in my opinion, was all wrong. Not after losing a game like that where they arguably should have won,” said the Fingallians clubman.

“I got home and it was sent to me on WhatsApp and I thought 'is he kidding?'

“You don't do that directly after a game I believe as a manager. I don't think it's a wise move.

“There is no doubt in my mind that game was there to be won for Kildare. He needs to look at that why they didn't win it...

“They could have closed that game out, Dublin were there for the taking. Dublin were poor...

“There were so many positives for Kildare, things that we hadn't seen for the whole year. Then for their manager to come out and say those things, I'm not a fan of it personally.”
