Bans amounting to 212 weeks have been imposed on five individuals following an alleged assault on an umpire during a minor hurling league game in Dublin on March 5 last.

Gardaí were called to the scene after the match between Naomh Fionnbarra and Clanna Fontenoy at Sean Moore Park in Sandymount was abandoned just after half-time. According to eye witnesses, the umpire was treated for a head injury after he was set upon by at least two individuals.

Two players from Naomh Fionnbarra were sent off.

RTÉ is reporting that, following an investigation by Dublin GAA, two members of Naomh Fionnbarra have received 48-week bans, while another club member has had his 48-week suspension reduced to 12 weeks on appeal.

Another individual has been banned from all GAA activity for 96 weeks, while the Cabra club was also fined.

Clanna Gael Fontenoy had one member suspended for eight weeks, while they received what it is believed to be a smaller fine than the one imposed on Naomh Fionnbarra.
