The opening shots were fired today in the 2021 Ulster SFC, Munster SHC and Leinster SFC.
The race for the Anglo-Celt Cup commenced with the preliminary-round meeting of Down and Donegal at Newry, while Clare locked horns with Waterford in a mouth-watering Munster senior hurling championship quarter-final encounter at Thurles.
Meanwhile, there were three first-round clashes in the Leinster senior football championship. On the back of successful league campaigns, Offaly and Louth did battle at Navan, while Wicklow entertained Wexford in Aughrim and Tullamore provided the setting for the meeting of Carlow and Longford (4:30).
