Chill Chartha (Kilcar) were crowned Comórtas Peile Na Gaeltachta senior champions for the first time in a decade and a seventh time in all following a 0-20 to 1-8 victory over Anna Leitir Móir on Monday.

The Donegal outfit made light of their extra-time battle with hosts Cill na Martra the previous day to comfortably overcome their Galway opponents in the West Cork Gaeltacht. The winners led by 0-10 to 0-5 at half-time, with Stiofán Mac Briartaigh accounting for 0-3 of their first half tally.

A Warren Seoighe penalty goal halved the deficit eight minutes after the restart, but Chill Chartha responded with three unanswered points from Stiofán Mac Briartaigh, Ciarán Mac Fhionnghaile, and Maitiú Mac Giolla, and never looked back after that.

Naomh Mhuire completed a double for Donegal by accounting for Kerry’s Lios Póil 3-13 to 2-10 in the junior final, while Baile Chláir na Gaillaimhe (Galway) were 3-9 to 1-8 winners over An Tearmann of Donegal in the senior ladies decider.
