Conor Glass has made no secret of Derry's desire to reach the Allianz Football League final.

While Mayo - who the Oak Leafers face this weekend - might not be too keen on contesting a League final a week out from their Connacht SFC opener against New York in Gaelic Park, Glass insists Derry would love to have the opportunity to claim a first Division 1 title since 2008.

"Connacht is obviously different in so far as they're out the week after the League final whereas we have a couple of weeks' leeway afterwards, the recently-crowned Club Footballer of the Year told RTÉ at yesterday's John West Feile launch.

"A League final would be a fantastic place to be. Especially for boys who haven't played in one. I think Chrissy McKaigue might be the only person to play in a league final and that was 30 years ago for Chrissy!

"You've got to win as much as you can, in what is a short period of time. The building blocks from winning a Division 1 title would be massive for Derry."
