Conor Glass has heaped praise on Odhran Lynch after his heroics in the first-ever Ulster SFC final penalty shootout.

The Derry goalkeeper saved three penalties before Ciaran McFaul – who only recently returned from a spell in Boston – fired home the winning penalty to secure back-to-back Anglo-Celt Cups for the Oak Leafers for the first time since 1976.

"He probably didn't have the best 70 minutes, but that shows the mental strength he has. He is that sort of character that can brush off mistakes,” the Derry skipper told RTÉ after the dramatic win over Armagh.

"Some of those saves were Premier League standard so I imagine he'll be getting a call very soon."

On his own penalty, which was emphatically finished to the roof of the net, the Glen midfield maestro added: "I was going to go to the other side of the net, but my mind just froze and I was like, 'I'm going to the right now.' It's hard to put into words until you're in the circumstance."
