Brian Ogs celebrate with the Derry IFC Cup

There was a huge outpouring of emotion on Saturday when Derry city club Steelstown Brian Óg’s won their first county IFC title.

The long-awaited success coincided with the 13th anniversary Mass of former underage star Brian Óg McKeever – who the club is now named after - who died from leukaemia at the age of 17.

Cahir McMonagle's injury-time free gave Steelstown a dramatic 0-9 to 0-8 victory over Greenlough as they avenged last year's final defeat. Afterwards, club members brought the new Bateson Sheridan Lee Cup to Brian Óg’s grave on what was an emotional day for everyone involved with the city club.
