Defending champions Slaughtneil needed extra time to see off Lavey tonight and advance to their sixth Derry senior football championship final in eight years.
It finished 1-13 to 2-6 after 80 minutes at Owenbeg, where a late Lavey goal forced extra time before the holders eventually got the job done.
The sides were also level at half-time in this one (0-6 to 1-3) and, in the end, it was the scoring prowess of Shane McGuigan and Sammy Bradley which made the difference for Slaughtneil.
They now face the winners of tomorrow’s clash between Watty Grahams Glen and The Loup the Oak Leaf County’s senior decider.
