Sad to see Murphy go but he owes us nothing what a servant he was. He can enjoy his club football now swilly will be strong team next year. Donegal will struggle next year in my opinion

Yeah he was sensational again in this year's club championship. Is it true Glenswilly have recruited another county standard forward from down the country? They could be a dangerous animal in next year's senior championship. Donegal will definitely fall down the pecking order. We were second favourites a few weeks ago with the bookies, now after the Roarty and Murphy news, we're out to 10/1. Time for others to step up, but we have to be realistic and patient as well. There is no like-for-like replacement for Murphy and perhaps there never will be. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 10535 - 06/11/2026 11:10:05 2699587 Link 0 |

Maybe they will but nothing is certain after the last couple of years. A lot falls on Langan and he's recovering from an another bad injury.

Yes Evan O'Carroll looks like a done deal. Very similar type of player to Murphy. Big, strong and very accurate. He is 31 but I wonder would he be on Jim's radar? He certainly was Laois most potent attacker. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1767 - 06/11/2026 11:39:35 2699594 Link 0 |

Absolutely no chance he would be on Jim's radar.

Gallen was all star form the two years Murphy was retire and in fact he won an all star. He can be injured a bit but then again plenty in the squad can. He's still relatively young and also had a good club championship. He's not Murphy's no but now with him and Roarty and maybe one or more gone from the team there's a few spaces open for lads to win. Interesting year ahead but I doubt we will en anywhere near winning it. Maybe scrape an ulster title and an all Ireland quarter at best eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 499 - 06/11/2026 14:22:24 2699621 Link 0 |

He'd surely be worth a look anyway, maybe even a couple of games in the McKenna Cup? He did the dreaded ACL in 2024, but was in good form again in the Laois championship recently. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 10535 - 06/11/2026 14:47:30 2699623 Link 0 |

Best wishes to the best to ever do it in green and gold and one of the game's all time great on his retirement mark 2. I thought Michael might give it another year but with a new baby it was always going to be a difficult ask. Where it leaves Donegal? Who knows. That's 2 gone and I believe Langan's injury is a very serious one. However I'll always have faith in Jim and it gives opportunities to others. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2974 - 06/11/2026 16:31:58 2699642 Link 1 |

Do you start every county season assessing whether we're going to win an all ireland? Jeez man, we're not kerry or dublin. We were in prime position to push on last year, all ireland runners up, all star players, flying in the league, hammering kerry every time we met them. And then it all went belly up when it mattered. Let's just see how the year pans out, other players will step up and there will be many twists and turns and bumps in the road. There isn't a single county in the country who can say they're confident they're going to be there on the biggest day, not even kerry. Let's just enjoy the ride.

Great to see the interfirms flying again. I am in Donegal for the weekend , my cousin was playing with the Gardai who struggled against Source Civil tonight. I must say Sinead breen your pro does a fine job on promoting Gaelic games in your county. I find it very easy to follow from afar. Few players stood out tonight - Ciaran McGinley by far and away the guards best player. Brian O Donnell and Mickey hegartys son Jack excellent for source. Could there be call ups for any of those lads on to a Donegal team. They seemed of that standard tonight, a cut above the rest Paidi04 (Westmeath) - Posts: 44 - 07/11/2026 01:49:09 2699663 Link 1 |

Good luck to Eunans tonight, hopefully they can get the job done. I think it will come down to the battle of the brothers and who comes out on top of that one - The O'Donnells v The Kelms. Ultan is a fine player and will take a bit of watching will Niall be back from Chicago? peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1767 - 07/11/2026 12:19:15 2699673 Link 0 |

I mean yeah? It's all about winning Sam. League and Ulster mean nothing anymore. We missed the boat with a great squad under Bonnar and I just think we have now once again had our chance and fluffed it again under Jim. It's bad signs when people are thinking we should add a 31 year old fella who plays for Laois. eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 499 - 07/11/2026 16:08:47 2699690 Link 0 |

The Kelm's have big Donegal connections, their Uncle Seamus Flynn was a brilliant player for Donegal during the 1979 campaign when we lost the Ulster final. A big loss to Aodh Ruadh that they settled a mile the wrong side of the border in Fermanagh. They'd have been massive players for Donegal.
