Replying To eirekeeper:  "In all fairness, why would Jim Gavin come to Monaghan? Galway a far more appealing prospect and would have the finances to back it up."
Why would you want Jim Gavin? That ship has sailed.

Bit harsh on their performances this year...

Only up from junior (whether or not they should have been in junior is a different story) finished 3rd in league and beating by the eventually winners in the knockouts (correct me if wrong)

Semi final in championship against Donaghmoyne, and the game turned in a matter of seconds. 2 county men on the bench who weren't fit for a full match which easily could have tipped game in their favour.

I'd say overall they'll be relatively happy with their season.

This is Emyvales main problem. They are satisfied with mediocrity. They will be in Junior again before there in Senior and then they will celebrate walking junior as if they actually have achieved something. Rinse and repeat.

Exactly.
The team has loads of quality and are seemingly happy with being competitive in intermediate.

Theres senior teams with less quality, less county men and a worse age profile that are punching well above their weight.

To my knowledge, Emyvale have 5 county senior players (6 if Conor Forde could be bothered) & 3 from this years u20 team. If that doesn't reflect underperforming what does?

You've got a good one if ye can still get Clubber. Everyone seems to be blocked from watching Clubber on theirs. So a friend told me.

Did a bit of research before junior final. What is the story with Drumhowan. Not a good sign winning so many junior championships

Won junior Double in 2006. Relegated in 07.
Won Junior in 08 & Ulster
Won intermediate league & lost championship final in 09
Relegated from senior then intermediate in 10 and 11
Won junior in 2012 Relegated the following year
Won in 2014. Relegated the following year
Won in 2024. Relegated last year
Won league and probably championship this year.

For the last 20 years they have won 10 cups. Yet haven't remained in senior or intermediate for two consecutive years. Poor from them

They think they are too good to be in the division and then aren't good enough to be in the one above. It's a big step up from junior to intermediate

14 in a row county final appearances this weekend for Scotstown. Surely in a national record at this stage?

In Monaghan it must be along. Did crossmaglen beat this themselves in the 90s and 2000s , any other teams nationally?
