Good Counsel in the same group as Kieran's and Kilkenny CBC for the Corn Uí Dhúill (As always), Peter's and Enniscorthy CBS in the same group as Coláiste Eoin and Mullingar CBS
Wexford Schools at home to Dublin South Schools in the QFs of the group teams sub-competition
First games all in November
League games already underway by the looks of it, Counsel have already played Kilkenny CBC and are down to play Coláiste Eoin today, Peter's down to play Kieran's today and Enniscorthy CBS up against Callan (Who aren't even in the Corn Uí Dhúill), Enniscorthy CBS then play Kieran's in two weeks time and Peter's play Callan
Counsel up against Kieran's in the first round on Junior A in two days time and have Kilkenny CBC in a few weeks time, Peter's against Enniscorthy CBS in the other group, Mountrath and Mullingar the other two schools in that group
Counsel and Peter's two of six schools in Second Year A along with Mullingar, Birr, Kieran's, and Kilkenny CBC

200/1 to win the All Ireland in 2027!!!
Comparing to the other Leinster teams Galway 5/1 Kilkenny 12/1 Dublin 20/1 Offaly 100/1
Are we genuinely that far off the other Leinster teams?

Are we genuinely that far off the other Leinster teams?" I don't think so. Last year was awful but I rarely take any notice of bookies. If we all went and backed Wexford tomorrow we'd be favourites. Would that make it realistic?

Are we genuinely that far off the other Leinster teams?" To be fair I dont think we are. On our day we can beat any team in Leinster but what we really lack is consistency. Since I started following the hurlers in the early noughties that has been an issue. The only year where I feel like we gave consistently good performances was 2019. Hopefully Derek McGrath can bring consistency encouraging to here he is in touch with a lot of players at the moment getting ready for the new season

We should improve abd hopefully get out if our griup but we are that far off an all Ireland . As much as we want it to not be the case , its the reality at present . Probably around 20 or 25 /1 to win leinster too .

New format being proposed for the Leinster SHC - https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-41915377.html
8 teams - Top 4 teams in one group and then another 4 teams in the other group
Top 2 from 1A go to the LSFs, 3rd and 4th from 1A play the top 2 from 1B in the LQFs
Think under the proposed format, 1A would be a bit of a snooze fest, would play three games to decide whether you were in a LSF or LQF

I agree Group 1 would be a bit of a snooze fest, and I'm not sure Group 2 would be much better. Examiner tells how if it was in place based on this year's standings, the groups would be: Group 1 - Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Offaly Group 2 - Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Wexford
Will consider ourselves first. Much as we've struggled in recent years, I and probably anybody else would still expect us to beat at least two of those other three teams in championship in any given year, and make a quarter-final. Same would go for any of the Group 1 teams there that might find themselves in Group 2 some year.
So really, what Group 2 becomes is a contest between three teams who've flitted between Leinster Championship and Joe McDonagh under the current structure, with a prize of a quarter-final spot for one of them, which they'd normally be expected to lose. It wouldn't be all that different from the system we've just gone away from, where Joe McDonagh winners or runners-up played 3rd in Leinster.
Group 1 would be basically three matches to decide whether you go straight to a semi-final, or go into a quarter-final where you'd probably be favourites to end up in a semi-final anyway. The competitive one would probably normally be expected to be any two of Dublin/Offaly/Wexford, but still, the Group 1 team would probably normally be the fancied one.
And overall, possibly the biggest issue is how if the idea of expanding the Leinster Championship is to "give more teams a chance to develop by playing at a higher level", it doesn't really achieve that. In the example here, Carlow, Kildare & Laois only get one game against a "higher level" county, and that's just against the fifth best in Leinster. They don't get the chance to test themselves regularly against the stronger counties at all.
One of them eventually gets one chance against a stronger county, but again, that's essentially a repeat of the old Joe McDonagh winners v 3rd in Leinster matches, and barring one surprise result back in 2019, we know how the rest of them went.
But hey, maybe I'm just getting too old and set in my ways, that I'm tending not to like change!

I don't like it though. It's games for the sake of games.

Wouldn't it be better to have 2 seeded groups of 4, say 1, 3, 5, 7 in one group and 2, 4, 6 and 8 in rhe other? Top team into semis, 2nd play 3rd from the other group in QFs. Bottom teams into a relegation final. So Galway, Offaly, Wexford and Laois would be in one group and Dublin, Kilkenny, Kildare and Carlow would make up the other based on this years final placings.

Surely 2 groups 4 be better where seeded teams based on previous years standings would be better . Top team each group into semi 2nd plays 3rd in opposite group in 1/4 final 2nd place teams have home advantage with the winners into a semi finsl lisers finished . 4th in each group into relegation final . Losing semi finalists play off for 3rd to go into all ireland 1/4 finals . Group 1 Group 2 Dublin (1) Galway (2) Kilkenny (4) offaly (3) Kildare (6) wexford (5) Carlow (8) laois (7) Based on last years standings Giving top team in round Robin a perceived advantage . Following year seeding based on finishing places in leinster . Or points in group inc score difference

@Doylerwex - Nah, my take on it is that only one of them gets one chance against a "proper stronger" county.
True that three of them would first get a game each against one of the traditionally stronger counties, but by definition, it would be against the weakest of these. Unfortunately, that would be ourselves in the example here.
Assuming that the "weakest stronger county" (e.g. ourselves, Dublin, or Offaly) generally finishes 1st or 2nd in Group 2, it means only one of the other three counties gets a chance to play against a "middling strong" county (i.e. one that's finished 3rd or 4th in Group 1).
None of them get a chance to play a "strong strong" county at all (i.e. one that's come 1st or 2nd in Group 1), unless they spring a surprise against the "middling strong" one.
If it is to go to two groups of four, I prefer Viking's suggestion.
