I'm going to join that Wicklow poster who is thinking of suing the county board. My ould heart is the only good bit of me left, but I'm not too sure after this afternoon. What a performance. As I've said on here many times, I could write a book on Wicklow near misses and shoulda, woulda, coulda, but this team has something the others lacked. Focus and self belief. Plus there are no big egos. I to 36 are prepared to play their part Don't want to hear another word about Oisin moving on either. We have a run at the All Ireland proper next year and at long last, we are building a team that no other county will take for granted. Can't say any more really, other than a big thank you to all concerned. Freethinker (Wicklow) - Posts: 2305 - 11/07/2026 18:00:11 2685228 Link 2 |

I have only ever cried twice after a GAA match, now both times against Down......... sponger (Wicklow) - Posts: 3033 - 11/07/2026 20:06:44 2685269 Link 1 |

We outscored Down 1-17 to 0-5 from the 47th minute onwards. I'm not ashamed to say I cried at the finish and for the last 2-3 minutes of the game. I lost my Dad a few months back. We travelled Ireland all over following Wicklow. He'd have loved today. Wicklowman (Wicklow) - Posts: 1171 - 11/07/2026 20:13:52 2685273 Link 3 |

Oh my God, what a wonderful day for Wicklow football. I'm delighted for all our supporters who've continued to support our footballers when it was easier to walk away. I'm delighted for the players and management and I think it is fitting that Dean Healy won man of the match today and walked up the steps of the Hogan stand to accept the Tailteann cup on behalf of this Wicklow squad - what a leader and a footballer. wicklowsupport (Wicklow) - Posts: 2251 - 11/07/2026 20:31:51 2685278 Link 2 |

RIP to your Dad. I lost my Dad as well last October, but his Wicklow flag flew proudly in front of the house this week. sponger (Wicklow) - Posts: 3033 - 11/07/2026 20:43:13 2685283 Link 1 |

I appreciate that Wayno. Time is precious. Wins are rare for Wicklow. Trophies are even rarer. Good luck tomorrow.

Same to you Sponger. This man would follow any Wicklow team to Casement Park and beyond. He'd follow his club sides too. He'd be firmly behind Balto, An Tochár and Rathnew in the Leinster Club Campaigns of the 90s and 00s. I'm sure your dad had the same passion. I was like a madman at the finish. We deserved that day.

Well done Wicklow, absolutely delighted for ye. Ye always produced great footballers but always i felt lacking in self belief, but God ye have plenty of it now. Delighted to see Dean Healy get his day in the sun he's as good as any midfielder in the country . Huge Wicklow support there too, enjoy the celebrations lads.

Thank you, and yes, we are. At last we seem to be building a team that more fashionable sides - and pundits - might take seriously.

Hopefully both men were looking down on the game today. Not only was I proud of the team today; the Wicklow supporters played their part too.

My Dad also followed my son also in his Gaelic career in Kildare. A few weeks ago he won a club championship with St. Kevins in Melbourne, and dedicated it to his grandad. Our Dads must have been giving a helping hand yesterday. sponger (Wicklow) - Posts: 3033 - 12/07/2026 08:46:08 2685350 Link 0 |

Well done to Wicklow on their win yesterday. I've been following the Tailteann throughout the year and noticed ye have some fine players like Oisin McGraynor, Eoin Darcy, Kevin Quinn. Good defenders like Eoin Murtagh and Malachy Stone. Complimented then by the 2 players that glue the team together of Mark Jackson and Dean Healy. Congrats to everyone in Wicklow. Great scenes at the end. Spoke to some of your fans after and the joy was great to witness. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 12198 - 12/07/2026 10:12:21 2685360 Link 1 |
