Replying To Boxtyeater:  "The shrewd Leitrim football men are obviously dissecting the days performance before issuing a conclusion.
Their spokesmen will somehow persuade us that we were victorious.

Maybe we've reached the end of this nonsense."
Poor day yesterday. Obviously delighted with the win but not much else. Poor attendance ( whatever happened to the 12,000 sold tickets ?), awful first half for Leitrim, they couldn't seem to get anything right. With the game practically won at half time, our lads lacked intensity in second half, Leitrim upped theirs, pushed us back, and showed what they are capable of. That sub ( Kelly) looks the real deal, any more promising youngsters coming through ?

FAO Yellaman:

We've had a bad run with injuries to key players and this to my mind is brought about by the intensity of the season between colleges competitions, national league and then the championship. Mayo for example lost to Roscommon on their 1st day out and didn't appear again until last Sunday.
Part of our issues is that we seem to have a plethora of young lads battling for the forwards jerseys. Not so many challengers for defensive positions and this has proved our undoing all year. For years we've been blessed with quality, combatative defenders and just when we discover quality forwards the defence, whether via personnel or positional placements/rule changes have been too frequently exposed.

I'd like to say that we're bristling with underage talent but the Connacht championship story makes poor reading.

But we'll come again, a somewhat, albeit slightly, better year than 2025.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to some of the so-called Leitrim posters here. There's a fair bit of nonsense being talked, and I doubt many of them have actually been at a Leitrim game in a long time.
From yesterday's match, our first half was very poor and Wexford were completely comfortable. Jack made a big difference when he came on. The last time we played each other, Wexford had 11 of the same players involved yesterday, while Leitrim only had two. We were missing around six players through injury, and to be fair they're six of our most important players.
It's a young team and there are signs of improvement, but next year will be a crucial one. We need to do what ye did - get out of Division 4 and, just as importantly, stay out of it for a few years.

Watching Kelly play Football was worth the drive up by itself.

Hard luck to Leitrim yesterday, down a lot of important players McNulty, prior and mcgloin. Good to see Paul keaney get some minutes as he has serious ability. Hopefully we get the likes of daragh Rooney who is back with Melvin Gaels, radek oberwan , Darren cox and donal Casey back to fitness along with some new additions , anyone being standing out at club level as I've not watched much league action

Any sign of Gantricks. He seems to have gone missing. I'm a bit worried about him. Love to all.

Hard luck also to our neighbours Roscommon who were outclassed by what is not even the best team in Ulster in all Ireland minor quarter final thank you so much. Very disappointing that they were the only provincial winners who didn't win please. Why is this? I think that it's because Connacht football is at a very very low level across all age levels thank you all in advance as I know you all agree.

This is a Leitrim thread try to focus on that with your numerous accounts on here than posting about your strange obsession with Roscommon.

At least have the decency to congratulate Wexford on their deserved win, might somewhat make up for those disrespectful posts towards Magpie2 and Wexford before the game. Many thanks indeed.

Weather this weekend is forecast to be good, well in Ireland it is anyway thank you everyone. Not sure about other countries who seem to have a strange obsession with the Leitrim forum even though they are not from here or even live here please. Moving on anyway from the drivel I feel that our Connacht teams will struggle this weekend somewhat due to the low standard in the province thank you. In saying that I think Roscommon will win their game as they have gotten conceivably the easiest draw possible. Thank you all so much.

Blathers, such statements are well astray. In reality talk about them when youse people win a Minor or U20 title or even a few games in the respective competitions. We've done ok but as I keep saying it's all about development. I'll call up if I'm cooking a bit and need that wooden spoon. Spirit of Aughavas. Love to all.n

Now that the year is over, whats the general concensus? Didnt get to as many games I would have liked, and while the league was disappointing the Championship performances were much more positive than normal. Ultimately got a little bit unlucky with the draws in the Tailteann Cup, Down and Wexford probably being the 2 best teams in it really but I suppose you have to play them at some stage.

I'd be looking to extend Poacher, think he was given a bit of a grenade taking the job in the first place after the Mickey Graham debacle, and has turned things around in terms of confidence and fight, with a fairly slimline looking backroom team. Maybe he's not a media man to the same extent, but in every other aspect he seems to be an improvement on his Mayo predecessor, and likely at a fraction of the cost. Go figure.

I am sure some folk with 20 accounts had more free time on their hands than ever before, especially our 'American' colleagues

I was at 90% of the home games, the league was disappointing, but I firmly believe we are on the right road under Poacher, we are much better coached than under Andy Moran with a much younger team. We look fit, we are more aggressive than we have in a long long time.

Gaffey has been a big addition he is a serious keeper and can kick 2 pointers.
Keith keegan has been great all year, he is all heart and gives 100% every day, Conor Quinn has made huge strides this year especially in championship and Tailteann, we have some really exciting attacking players, Jack Kelly, Ryan O'Rourke, Barry McNulty, Paul Honeyman, Oisin McLoughlin.

The win against Sligo was a great day to be a Leitrim supporter.

We need to target getting out of division 4, that should be the main target for 2027. The future is bright but getting out of Div 4 is a must.

Replying To veterngaa:  "When was the last time a team scored 0-0 in a half ?"
Is that true? I didn't have much time recently to catch up on last weekend's games. Can't believe believe that Leitrim couldn't manage to kick the ball between the posts, either under or over them, even once for an entire half of football.

That even bates what Cork hurler managed to mis-achieve in last year's AI final's second half, and that itself bate Banagher.
