Kilkenny teams in general arent neccessarily that strong at all agegroups at underage. We went up there for an u14 tournament last year, and ourselves and Craanford ended up in the final. Div 3 and div 4 Wexford u14 teams. We both beat Kilkenny div2 teams on the way to the final."
As I said last week, even when KK were very good, their success was mainly driven by 5-6 clubs and then another 5-6 clubs played a supporting role

I see Cork beat Kilkenny by 2-25 to 1-16 in the Minor QF

Wonder how much of that was because Cork were better than last week and how much was because KK were much worse than they were in Leinster?

Larry Murphy seemed disappointed with the Minor results, said they were aiming to win Leinster and make an AISF

From what I've observed at that age group the last two years across the county is that Martin's and rathnure are very good. Everyone else seems to have 2/3 really good lads, a handful of average lads and then a couple who struggle.

We'd have some very strong players but we already know half our group will be gone by under 14 I'd say and we'll be lucky if one of them plays senior for the club.

ASH is just for U12s.

And for actual U12s - i.e. lads who'll be moving up to U14 the following year. Not for 1st year U12s (i.e. U11s in the year itself), who'd still be U12 the following year.

U10s and U12s at that competition with clubs from Wexford and Waterford/Kilkenny. Very strong teams from Ballygunner , Mount Sion ,Thomastown at 12s but Harriers, Martin's and Oulart were equally as strong . Glynn the host club had 2 teams and not overly strong that age anyway.
Also I have been told Blackwater and Rathnure are the two best 12s teams in Wexford and neither were there.
As for the 10s Ballyhale were the best there but told none of the best U10 teams in Wexford at it so again no point in worrying about results at an U10 competition. I would not overly worry about our 10s and 12s to be honest. Of course we can and need to do better/more at those age groups but we need to do more at 16s onwards.

Are there any u16 blitzes/tournaments organised by any clubs in the county Paull?

Not that I am aware of. Minor neither.
But there is in neighbouring Counties for sure . Some as small as 4 teams. Others 12s.

I got the idea for our February astro u13 hurling Jim Morrissey Cup from a Killenaule friend who sent me the details of Holycross/Ballycahill GAAs minor astro tournament. 8 teams. The main reason we went for u13 was our astro is smaller than theirs, too small for a winter minor tournament. Have any clubs got larger Astros to run something similar in the winter for older age groups?
Maybe we will try run something for u16s next summer on the pitches along the lines of the u11 Andy Doyle Cup hurling tournament we ran this weekend, Ill ask our CnO head and Coaching officer.
