Absolutely super work from our committee too, handed a tough hand to deal with. Build up really starting now, plenty of flags up good to see and hoping the lads can put in a big performance and see where it takes us. A day to be savoured, not every day you get to see Monaghan in an Ulster final in Clones and if Casement does ever go ahead people might look back and say how privileged we were to be at one in Clones. sporto (Monaghan) - Posts: 197 - 15/05/2026 10:46:39 2673121 Link 1 |

Be good to see how many will be back in Clones in a fortnight regardless of the result.

You musnt have watched the game, we were all over them for the first 20 and we could have coasted to the win. Bate the same team at u17 level 3 years ago which might be the barometer if we have progressed or not. Aside from the Armagh win our only victories were over Antrim Fermanagh and Cavan who should be in a tier 3 comp. Losses to Donegal Derry and Tyrone

Good point. Overheard one of the stewards commenting on how many Monaghan supporters left at halftime. What about a bit of respect for the effort the guys put in. Are the same ones complaining about ticket allocation going to be getting up and turning their backs on the team if things are going badly with 20 left...

Experience probably will count for a lot Sunday, Armagh probably hold the aces there, not to many of our players have played in a full Clones surely? Beggan, R Wylie? Its also interesting, it has been well highlighted Armagh are chasing Ulster but a lot of our guys haven't' tasted any success in the province and probably wont get a better opportunity than Sunday. Will be interesting to see how we cope with that. Kickouts are huge, Roscommon really took Galway to the cleaners last week so Beggan will be a target for the Armagh men. Armagh cleaned Downs inform players in the SF by attacking every chance they got. You would be hoping at midfield we can win that battle to launch attacks. I think on squad depth, form, experience, Armagh should see it out. Its a game where I am nervous for, being a Monaghan supporter, some times we can be in these positions with a huge build up and we do not show up or often loose a close game. I really hope this team makes their own history Sunday. 222 (UK) - Posts: 928 - 15/05/2026 12:57:46 2673151 Link 0 |

Am i the only one thinking Armagh struggle with favourites tag. And it is so set up for them to finally win an Ulster title. All they have to do is show up they are going that well. We are in a fantastic place heading into Sunday. farneygael3 (Monaghan) - Posts: 669 - 15/05/2026 13:23:43 2673156 Link 0 |

Hmmmm Ulster final 2024, Armagh had the experience of 2023. Ulster final 2025, Armagh had the experience of 2023 and 2024. No silverware to show for it, yeah so when it comes to winning an Ulster final it's grit and determination that matters not experience. Yeah agree with a lot of that bar being nervous part as all pressure and expectation on armagh we are huge underdogs every pundit has armagh by 5-10 pts at least. In fact I can only recall one ulster final where we went in as favourites in past 20 years and that was 2010 when we never showed up so id be confident we'll show up alright. But know where you are coming from we have had stronger teams in the past who just never showed up am thinking big games in croke park especially. The build up in monaghan has seemed a little ott but sure no harm. The big imponderable is how good really are armagh dont forget they are half a new team from 2024. They looked phenomenal v Down and for parts of the Fermamagh match but im not sure either opposition was up to much on the day for different reasons. Against Tyrone who'd Id hope we'd be closer in terms of ability to likes of fermanagb armagh struggled to get their running game going and were opened up a lot by tyrone. One thing I am certain of through is if we start like we did v derry we ain't coming back this time. Hugely important we get off to a good start and are tight at the back stop armagh running through for easy scores get our own game going. If armagh are as good as they'd been built up and they may well be then we'll probably stay with them for a lot of game and they'll pull away in final quarter but willing to wager we can drag them into a battle which may go the wire and I wouldn't back against us in that scenario. Ill let the heart rule the head monaghan by two or three.

Good luck tomorrow Monaghan, no more than ourselves you generally have to do it against the odds. facethepuckout (Roscommon) - Posts: 232 - 16/05/2026 15:15:35 2673306 Link 2 |

He was having a good cry to the referee at full time from what I could see.

Sending off changed the game completely. It was deserved though. Some good players there in the minors this year. McKenna form Emyvale has potential, Fanthorpe and Feeney are decent. You make your own luck and they self imploded.

Was the sending off not with 7 or 8 to go? Donegal had 2 clear goal changes in the second half the didn't take, the young lad had to catch it and he'd have buried it, instead he went to palm it and our keeper caught it!

Was that a game Blaney should have won or were Carrick the better team? farneygael3 (Monaghan) - Posts: 669 - 16/05/2026 18:27:12 2673347 Link 0 |
