I did see a very large hoarding advertising something, I can't remember what. I thought maybe it was an electronic scoreboard, but alas it never changed. As I said, there was a big tower just outside the shed and it clearly obscured my view. I don't live in Leitrim any more, and if you go back a couple of pages you'll see this was my first game in Carrick in a long time. And I was including those who make a skit out of Leitrim in my criticism." Just a pity now you didn't find another spot in the 95% of the ground not being blocked by this hoarding, shame really but hopefully it didn't ruin your visit to the game otherwise. Fair play to the Roscommon u20s last night watched them against us , Galway in the semi and mayo last night their performance last night was far better than anything else they played in the championship. Carthy , henegan and kilcline were brilliant for Roscommon. I'm sure most Roscommon fans will admit they were very poor against us albeit shocking conditions a 2 point win where they got 2 fortunate goals . I think they'll win minor and seniors now too , to make it a clean sweep at provincial level. It shows the good work Roscommon have put into the last 10/15 years at undersge bearing dividends, hopefully our lads stick at it plenty of positives at u20 4 of the 5 games we were very competitive. At minor I think half the team is underage next year which makes a huge difference at u17. I know a lot slagged poacher off about his "standards " but he's got a right tune of the players in the championship hopefully we give the tailteann a good go as tough a start as they come but if we play like we've done in championship so far we're well able to compete. I think getting out of div 4 is critical hopefully we have cox, Keaney, d Casey back along with foley plunkett and Dolan I think a few from this years u20 in fox , Kerr , Farrell will be in the squad next year but time will tell. On that particular evening they were weak so your point is what?? By the way mentioning the under twenty championship I must say congrats to Roscommon on winning it thank you. I did not get to the game last night as I was cleaning the septic tank (long story thank you) but I believe it wa a super game of football and the best team won. You should be pleased that your U20s was competitive against the eventual Connacht champions. True worth of any underage team is seen n knock out football and Roscommon beat Galway and Mayo In consecutive weeks. The final group game in Hyde Park was knock out for Leitrim and you had to win by 7 points or more. With all Leitrims best players featuring you never looked close to achieving that and the margin was 5 points until the last action of the match a Leitrim goal. Roscommon had no Kilcline in that game, the big 6ft 6 fella that made a major impact against Galway last week and again last night against Mayo. It's gone a bit doolally on this forum of late unfortunately. My mother is from Leitrim and I always like to see Leitrim do well. It was great to see the fight back in the team against Galway last weekend. Hopefully it's the start of something good and hopefully Poacher can live up to his reputation he had from a few years ago. A strong Leitrim is only good for Connacht football and I look forward to heading back to Carrick some weekend for a local derby in the Connacht Championship. For Roscommon it's great to beat Mayo and Galway but for me personally it's hard to beat a day out in Carrick and watch Roscommon and Leitrim go toe to toe with one another in a tight championship game. Then head into Flynn's afterwards and enjoy the craic between both sets of fans. Unfortunately that hasn't happened in a while but hoping next year that can change. The existing qualifier system is a great setup, open fraw where you can play anyone from Waterford to Donegal. With the quality of player we have I would hope to draw a top team in the qualifiers. No one will want to draw us. Yes the minor championship starts this evening, they deserve our support after a brilliant campaign for them at county level.
