Is Fanning definitely out? Is it Shane or Damien are injured? Somebody above said Shane but it was Damian who got the bang on the hand and looked in bother with it at the end of the match

There was talks that Rory Higgins had broken his finger hurling ACHL on Sunday for Rathnure but I think he got stitched in the end and no fracture

I would rate him fairly highly to be honest. He slotted in and was a nailed on starter pretty much straight away.

Lawlor should have been our number 1.

Rossi is absolutely trying to do the right thing but I have two issues. 1. We were really poorly organised, particularly in the second half. 2. Man management seems to be a recurring problem. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4478 - 28/04/2026 11:27:23 2669467 Link 0 |

Carty only got called into the panel in 2023, after being nominated for an u21 all star in 2018. By halfway through the Championship he was a starter, in his first year in the panel. He'd walk onto the team now at halfback if he was in the country. And he would be a round peg in a round hole. Was always a halfback. Agree with the rest of your post, no knowing how good or bad Barry O'Connor or Joe Barrett would be, and Joe had numerous chances at Senior intercounty. Shane has a fracture on his lower thumb area and is very much a doubt. Damien also has a issue with his knuckle and is also a doubt.

One criticism I have is our management never make changes at half time when its needed. It was clear one or two of our forwards were really struggling. Tough calls needed to be made and they werent and its happened a few times

Barrett was asked several times to join the panel by Keith and he refused each time. If he's not interested then that's it. Magpie2 (Wexford) - Posts: 671 - 28/04/2026 12:17:36 2669484 Link 1 |

Wexford cant afford the luxury of playing Chin at 14. He is easier marked there than anywhere else on the pitch, we need him further out the field. It is mind boggling that no other goalkeeper has had a run over the last couple of years, its now entirely possible that someone will be thrown in at the deep end against Dublin in a must win game. Lunacy. You do have to ask why so many are not committing right now? I know its the same in other counties but not to the same extent imo. He could probably have replaced 12 or 13 of the lads at halftime if it was allowed.

Hate being critical but Lawlor was in goal in 2023 and dont remember him making any saves

Those tough calls should have been made before half time in all honesty and would have been in the top counties. It's a recurring theme unfortunately, Hetherton and Cathal Mannion let do what they liked against us last year and management asleep on the line.

Jesus thats far from ideal heading into the Dublin game . If we are without both its hard to see how we can beat Dublin. Hopefully we have at least one of them

That is very disappointing given Joe even played u20 under Keith so would already would have a relationship with him

He had potential but he's not a huge loss either. Very limited on the ball. That's another problem in the team, even when there is good movement close to goal the deliveries in can be very average. Mind you Chin's movement inside and first touch was very poor the last day. The top forwards like Gillane have no problem with a high ball going in and he's usually outnumbered too. He's not the quickest either but it's about movement in there not speed. Chin didn't make it stick and Redmond was lost next to him. Early on with Rossi we had likes of Casey and Cian Byrne inside and that forced a change of tactics. We were forced to work the ball short and play diagonal ball into them. Then likes of Chin and Mac returned and we went back to the Tony Doran route one tactics. Timbertony (Wexford) - Posts: 556 - 28/04/2026 12:54:55 2669503 Link 0 |

Fully agree with you management dont seem to be learning from mistakes of last year. How we changed nothing at half time is unbelievable we were blessed to be 4 points down it could have 9 or 10. I went into this championship with a bit of confidence that we could compete at least in Leinster but Saturday was a hammer blow and news of our injury doubts only make things harder. Yeah, had a rough old time of it for Wexford in 2023 but thought he had taken a step forward in the club championship in the last few years, thought he was very good for Ferns last year Only problem is that he's in Australia now and I don't know when he's coming back ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1130 - 28/04/2026 13:36:55 2669516 Link 0 |
