Replying To OpenStandWall: "Now that the sand has settled… was impressed yesterday by Hearne, Wickham and OLeary who has been effective since the Clare game.... Lawlor played much better in the second half also once he seemed to get to grips with their puck out strategy, two Jacks and Simon were quiet enough. Carley wasn't too bad either, when he went off saw him holding his hamstring a bit alright. Subs definitely bolstered us, Cillian Byrne in particular, Cian is out for a while with a hamstring injury so I saw on twitter.
Moving on to next week, only saw highlights of match in Salthill on YouTube. I'm stuck in two minds as to what to think, part of me thinks we're going to be on the receiving end of a backlash while the other part of me thinks we can go up there and get a result, but we'll need to improve big time on the first 45 mins. Donnelly will be a big loss for them as well as having no Mullen, id expect Murphy to be back in the goal.
With Jippo not getting any game time yesterday, do you put him in from the start now next week?" Depends how he is going in training. Just on Hearne hes one of our best players in general, but I thought he was poor enough by his standards.

Replying To beano: "On Jippo, it might be a bit premature to stick him in from the off, but we need to do SOMETHING. Because looking at Kildare's goal, we were badly exposed and isolated for it. And by all accounts TJ had a field day on Galway despite an awful day for Kilkenny, so the prospect of route one ball could be damaging.
I wonder could Lawlor be a left-field option solely to compete aerially with Reid? Freeing up Foley to play in the half-back line. Moving Chin back would take too much from us up front." Tbh, I'd nearly consider going for a surprise sweeper, worked well in 2022
I think they were playing their traditional game a few years ago and weren't winning and thought they needed to move to a more modern style but they're playing this modern style and they're not suited by it, think a lot of people in KK would rather that they revert to that more traditional style
Our spine can be got at too and they have the players to go after it, play a surprise sweeper and they either rain ball down on our spare man or else they work the ball around short which hasn't been going that well for them recently
Kevin Foley probably the man for the job IMO
Think they can be got at with speed, problem for us is that ROC isn't playing this year, Cian Byrne is out injured, and Seán Rowley wasn't brought on yesterday and probably needs time, hard to play a two-man forward line successfully without having pacy options inside

Replying To ElGranSenor: "Think Galway beat them in Nowlan Park in 2019 if I'm not mistaken" We did.
And we finished 4th on score difference and went out early

Replying To Stool Pigeon: "Poorer Wexford teams have beaten better KK teams in the relatively recent past. Watch the Galway V KK game, and unless you think Galway are up there with Limerick et al. (we aren't) you'll be comforted by how ordinary the stripey men are these days.
Go up there to win and be disappointed if you don't." 100% agree.
Rather than focusing and worrying about a KK backlash we shojld be heading up the road with our heads up and chests out ready to bury them.
Because if the shoe was on the other foot thats exactly what they would be doing.
This is where the ruthlessness comes in, no talk about what ifs, go for it up in their faces for 70 minutes, your record is good enough against them over the years, time for a bit of arrogance.

Next week is a massive game; us, KK, Dublin, and Offaly is almost like a mini-Round Robin, whoever comes 1st in it will make a Leinster Final with Galway and whoever comes 2nd will come 3rd in Leinster IMO
Lose and we're under the pump and would realistically need to win our last three games (Possible as Dublin and Offaly are probably 50/50 games and Galway will probably be qualified by the time we play them, could very easily lose all three games at the same time)
Win and we'd be sitting in a very good position, would be a massive psychological boost too and you'd imagine we could get a good crowd in then for the Dublin game
Need to bring massive intensity from the get-go, KK are in a similar enough position to us two years ago going into the Galway game in Wexford Park, we know how that ended so we'll have to be prepared for a backs against the wall performance against KK
This mightn't be the greatest KK team there has ever been but they'll be much better than they were yesterday and while we still might be capable of beating them even if they bring in, a Lord of the Rings quote seems very appropriate: "One does not simply walk into Mordor"
Nothing is ever easy in Nowlan Park but at the same time, this is what Championship hurling is all about, Wexford players should be champing at the bit for the game on Saturday
