As a neutral it was a great watch, fair play to both teams in tricky conditions. Thought maybe the galway centre forward may have went for goal instead of the safety option but thats nitpicking. A good game

6 points up and man up for the last 25 minutes. You really have to see the game out from there. They would have as well if they had taken any of the 3 good goal chances they had in the second half. They completely butchered the first two and Mulhern fisted a point over for the last one. Which left Donegal still in it needing only a 2 pointer which they got. Mulhern had a good goal chance the first half as well.

On the positive side the young forwards continue to produce. 0-14 combined from Mac Donnacha, O'Conghaile, Mulhern and S McGrath. Thought Hernon did quite well at full back. There will be plenty of depth up front once Walsh, McDaid and Thompson are back. Not even counting poor old Comer any more.

In fairness you can't blame Mulhern for fisting over the bar at that stage. The keeper did well to create a very tight angle and there was also a Donegal defender on hand it the event of a parry. Also, I'm sure after last weekend's finish against Ros when a similar chance presented and it didn't work out well, it may have been on his mind.

Replying To anotheralias:  "I dont agree with Galway posters making silly comments about Kobe or indeed negative comments about Mayo football in general but i have to respond to stupidity. The cynicism/sarcasm of your " well done..galway for sam" comment is laughable. In Galway we know our limitations and are nationally not renowned for the " x for sam expression" where we all know who the x stands for in the expression, but never is in reality, and hasnt been for 75 years. Galway did have a man advantage for exactly half the game today ( not most of it) and probably should have got over the line, but at least we got a result , unlike Mayo, who were comprehensively beaten by donegal. Having said all this i want to state that my remarks are specific to your cynicism and not mayo football in general, as i am delighted with Mayos result today, i am delighted to watch the brilliance of Kobe, and would be delighted to see Mayo lift Sam."

Yes his goal chance was the most forgivable to be fair to him. The previous two should have been goals though. They had 2 v 1 on the keeper and messed it up twice.

Wasn't Dan Flah involved in one of the previous two? If so, I'd be more surprised at this stage to see Flah bagging one 'Micheal Meehan style', than I'd be to see him miss 'sitters'. I think there's a reason that Flah was christened a back in Salthill, and you see it in those one on one finishing situations all the time.

I think Fionn McDonagh put in a bad hand pass behind his man for the second goal chance. Would have to watch it again though.

Galway did well to get the draw. Away from home. How many one point defeats have we suffered over the years. I would like to see long range frees takenon the ground, not in the hand.
Onwards and upward.

Very happy with Galway at moment. Think we are rocking along very nicely.

Butchered a few goals today that would have put us out of site but very happy with general play.

New faces getting plenty of game time.

We can't give out about Mcdonnacha going for goal last week and then give out about Mulhern hand passing over this week.

Unreal 2 pointer from Donegal.

Donegal unbeaten there in about 100 years!!

On the negative side, the goal we conceded worries me. We lost the kick out and they had a clean run in to shoot for goal. Surely we should have some cover. Similar to the goal conceded against Rossies.

Darcy will get better with games.

What is the story with Mcdaid injury? Anyone have any idea of timescale on it (or any off the others)

Heading up the road this morning I'd have been happy leaving with a point but can only feel disappointed not getting two given how the match unfolded. On the plus side Oisin Mac Donnacha stood out up front, Maher was everywhere and Hernon offered a lot coming from deep. The substitutions seemed to be a bit late coming in, the guys taken off looked well spent and Donegal had already swung momentum back by the time our fresh legs were on.

The two week break is definitely needed, full focus on Monaghan to get the job done and hopefully (almost) secure D1 for 27.

A point earned away to table toppers Donegal but can't help feeling it's the 2 points Galway should have earned. Bench impact of Mogan, Michael Murphy and Finnbarr Roarty proved a difference though.

Galway will move onto six points with a win over Monaghan next and are capable of beating Dublin at home in round 7.
