Another great win in absolutely terrible conditions . Daire Cregg was outstanding yet again and Diarmuid chipped in with his usual scores. Galway should have fisted over towards the end to level the game and were guilty of some sloppy kick passing but I enjoy watching Finnerty, McGrath and Kelly. Agree with previous comments about midfield but we are lucky we have strong players to come back into the fold that could solve it. Fair Play to Mark Dowd for not rushing the Brigits lads back and backing the panel so far Rossfan93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 96 - 23/02/2026 12:51:37 2658104 Link 2 |

Roscommon have only won one League title ( 1979). We have a real chance of reaching a League Final this year. Could come down to the last match against Mayo in Castlebar. It's not either or but if it was, I'd prefer a Connacht title and a first championship win in Croke Park since August 10, 1980. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2609 - 25/02/2026 18:58:57 2658642 Link 0 |

If we get over the Dubs Sunday and secure our Division 1 status, I think we would all be quite happy to let the Castlebar game become a dead rubber, especially with the big game coming down the tracks. Let's he honest, who imagined us being one win away from safety with 3 games left at the start of the campaign? Great work so far and long may the progress continue. On another note, the adult leagues kick off this weekend but there's not a whisper about it on social media and no fixtures on our website yet either. Surely it deserves some bit of coverage. Well said. Unreal that the county board can't update the website with the weekends respective fixtures.

Only thoughts I have right now is to secure Div one status for next year and if my maths are correct we'll need 1 point from our remaining 3 games to confirm that. Few inside the county expected us to stay up, most outside the county if not all expected relegation for us. Has been a league campaign that has restored confidence after a truly miserable championship campaign and finish to our Division 2 campaign last year. Style of play is very pleasing on eye and it has us among the top scoring teams across the four divisions. 10 players making their league debuts and all holding their own against the best of the best in Division bodes well moving forward. Midfield as McGeeney said is piggery contest now, and we have showed when we get stuck in we can have joy in that area as seen 1st half against Armagh and 2nd half on Saturday. Defensively still needs work before the championship, we still tend to stand off long range shooters and give away a lot of scores from having possession of the ball are losing it. On Sunday I'm expecting another tough competitive encounter, Dublin fighting to avoid relegation will likely bring a championship tempo to the game and something we'll need to be ready for. On a separate note time the county board updated or got a new website, it's among the worst out there at the moment. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4275 - 26/02/2026 14:46:14 2658752 Link 0 |
