Glad I did this evening, desperate stuff to even watch on tv, imagine paying €160 for a ticket to watch that. Neil Diamond across the PA to entertain the crowd

Great game, great battle. SA just better than us at the minute. Better than everyone else.

It wasn't a 'great game'. How much time out of the 80+ playing time was spent setting/resetting scrums? Not exactly an exhilarating watch that element, and it was a huge feature of SA's approach. Wasn't a 'great battle' either, due to the level of SA's physical domination. A total domination physically from start to finish, to the degree that it was an absolute certainty at all times that Ireland could never gain scoreboard parity in the circumstances.

There is an on/off button on the TV. No one is compelling you to watch...

Can't agree with that. I love watching rugby generally, but that was a poor spectacle last night. So many stoppages. It took an hour to play the first half, and not far off it for the second half. It was so stop-start, no flow at all to the game. All the TMO stuff taking an age, the constant scrums. Any game where the ref is the most visible person on the pitch isn't a good one. Even in terms of physicality, it was mainly just the scrums that South Africa dominated. In general play, they weren't dominating the breakdown much more than we were. Jesus viking don't know what game you were looking at but how could you encourage any kids to take up that sport. It's just savagery.

It was a terrible game. And the escorting law has made rugby far worse to watch. South Africa miles ahead of us but chose to prove a point with repeated scrums rather than let their backs have it. Thankfully. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8646 - 23/11/2025 15:57:22 2645767 Link 0 |

Some of our kids are just tougher than others. There's always soccer if they're afraid of the physical stuff.

I found it astonishing that RTÉ were on the air 70 minutes before the start of what was effectively a challenge match marketed as a "test match", considering they only went on air 75 minutes before the start of both All Ireland finals. My God a lot of you have huge chips on your shoulders as regards Rugby. Scenicparish (Donegal) - Posts: 795 - 23/11/2025 18:16:14 2645781 Link 2 |

Not as astonishing as scoring 2 points in the 35 minutes of a second half

You can say that again. It's fairly pathetic to be honest.
